Charlize Theron to remake ‘Lady Vengeance’

Charlize Theron

In an interview with MTV Movies, Charlize Theron confessed she was working on a remake of Sympathy for Lady Vengeance. The project is in the early stages of development but Theron has committed to produce and star in the picture. The original was directed by Park Chan-Wook and was released in 2005. Apparently the director approached Theron with the idea of having an American director remake his film because he wants to see how it would be made in an American society.

[After thirteen and half years in prison for kidnapping and murdering the boy Park Won-mo, Geum-ja Lee is released and tries to fix her life. She finds a job in a bakery; she orders the manufacturing of a special weapon; she reunites with her daughter, who was adopted by an Australian family; and she plots revenge against the real killer of Won-mo, the English teacher Mr. Baek. With the support of former inmates from prison, Geum-ja seeks an unattained redemption with her vengeance.] — plot synopsis from IMDB.com
