Who is that guy?
Who is that guy? Oh, its Oliver Platt!
Ahh …Â Oliver Platt, how I love your roles, you are always the sly, smooth talking easy going drunk guy.
Well I was just watching ‘The Martian Child‘ and boom, there he was. That made me realize he is kinda that guy, the guy that is in a bunch of movies and you enjoy him but don’t really know his name, or what he is all about. Let me tell you about some of my favorite Oliver Platt roles.
First role I remember him was Fitz in ‘Diggstown‘ released in 1992. He shows up in the movie as a con man helping out a business partner in a boxing scam. This is probably when I first wondered if he is really slippery and slimy in his real life.
From there you get him as Porthos in ‘The Three Musketeers‘ which although a Disney movie I really enjoyed as a youngster. Again you get him in a role where he divulges in women and alcohol, but still very enjoyable, and believable.
After this you get probably his biggest and most remember able role (for me at least) in ‘A Time to Kill‘ as Harry Rex Vonner, a sleazy divorce attorney who is on the defense when Matthew McConaughey’s character takes on a murder case.
Oliver Platt has done a bunch of movies, and I could go on about them, but you get the general idea. Enjoy.
