WAMG First Look at ‘The Amateurs’

The Amateurs is actually The Moguls (2005) as it was originally released in the UK. You can probably imagine why its taken an additional three years to finally get a release in the US. The Amateurs was written and directed by Michael Traeger and boasts a stunning ensemble cast, including Jeff Bridges, Tim Blake Nelson, Joe Pantialano, William Fichtner, Ted Danson, Glenne Headly and Jeanne Tripplehorn. Jeff Bridges [The Dude]  stars as Andy,  a man suffering a mid-life crisis after he learns his daughter’s step-father is rich. Andy dreams up an idea to strike up the good life once and for all and it includes help from the entire town. Andy sets out to convince and enlist his small town to join him in creating the very first feature-length amateur porno movie. I saw the trailer for this and thought, “what an absolutely hilarious movie this will be.” It’s a movie that’s been waiting to be made and, unfortunately … has been waiting to be seen in America. The Amateurs received very limited release early in December 2007, but is getting set for its DVD release on February 12, 2008.
