These movies are the great films that shaped our slackers of today and will shape the slackers of our future. Thanks….I guess. I ranked these on their over all slackerness (yeah I made that word up. Screw it, I am too lazy to figure out a better word)

10. Office Space

If you have ever worked in a cubical this movie is the greatest thing to happen since the swingline stapler. The main character is locked in a trance of not caring and relaxation. Needless to say, his 9 to 5 job doesn’t like it.

Memorable Quote “The thing is, Bob, it’s not that I’m lazy, it’s that I just don’t care.”

9. Harold and Kumar go to White Castle

Two men, and the munchies. What could go wrong? Well, many things including, police, Neal Patrick Harris stealing their car, and riding a cheetah. All in the name of getting some White Castle.

Memorable quote “Did Doogie Houser just steal my f***ing car?”

8. Half Baked

A stoner on a food run gets thrown in jail and his buddies go on a quest to get him out of jail. You may be asking yourself “Me, how on earth would stoners make money to get a buddy out of jail?” First of all, you shouldn’t talk to yourself. It’s kinda creepy. To answer your question, they sell pot. Now they have to worry about cops, rival drug dealers and of course not smoking it all themselves.

7. Van Wilder

A college legend, Van Wilder is the man. He is the party animal, and is one of the biggest slacker college has ever seen. He becomes the interest of a reporter for the college paper. After doing her research she finds that he isn’t as much of an idiot as she first thought. Van and his assistant start throwing parties for the less popular people and everything works out for Van, including a degree.

Memorable quote “You shouldn’t take life to seriously. You’ll never get out alive.”

6. Fast Times at Ridgemont High

Nothing screams slacker like ordering a pizza to be delivered to your history class. This high school comedy is an absolute classic. It might need to be higher on the list, but there is alot of non-slacker stuff to push it down to number 6.

5. Cheech and Chong Up in Smoke

Now I do realize there is a slight theme in most of the movies on this list. Hey, it’s not my fault that stoners make great slackers. This movie is jam packed with stoner humor with a massive amount of slackerness (yeah, I used it again. Get over it) But what list of great slacker movies would be accurate without cheech and chong somewhere in it. My point exactly.

4. Clerks

Now this would have to be my favorite Kevin Smith movie of all time. If you haven’t seen it, kill yourself. It is about these two guys that work crappy jobs they hate. It is just a day in the life of Dante and Randal.

Memorable quote “My friend here is trying to convince me that any independent contractors working on the uncompleted Death Star were innocent victims when it was destroyed by the Rebels.”

3. Ferris Bueller’s Day off

This is the best high school slacker movie of all time. No other slacker has the spirit of Ferris. All the trickery and lies he puts on, just to get out of one day of school. This is more then a movie about a slacker that gets out of school. It is like the manual for all slacker behavior. He drags his girlfriend and best friend out on a day they will never forget, and all while his principle and sister are out to catch him.

Memorable quote “Life goes by pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.”

2. Animal House

Come on, does anyone really need an explanation? Seriously this is the ultimate college movie, let alone a amazing slacker flick. A frat house full of slackers, just trying to squeeze by without getting thrown out of college. Mayhem and mischief are caused anywhere they are. If you haven’t seen this you are crazy, and if you haven’t seen this and you are in college. You need to drop out and burn yourself alive.

1. The Big Lebowski

The biggest slacker of all time, Jeffery Lebowski. Not the millionaire, but the bowling, white russian drinking slacker. Now, the story begins with a bit of mistaken identity resulting in a peed on rug. This pothead is sent on a mission to get payback for his soiled rug. On his quest he is faced with germans, kidnapping, porn producers, 15 year old car thieves and a feminist artist. All this for a rug you ask. I have only one thing to say as a response. The rug really tied the room together.
