Sick of remakes yet? Not as sick as you’re going to be.

Just thought I’d let you know that Variety says Rogue Pictures has finalized their plans to remake George A. Romero’s 1973 film The Crazies. Following utter pandemonium after a government created virus infects an entire Pennsylvania town and makes ’em loopy for blood, the remake will be directed by Breck Eisner, who’s already supposed to direct the Creature From The Black Lagoon remake. Hey, you know what makes ME crazy? The unspoken hollywood desire to consume itself indefinitely through a mobius strip of remakes.

Well, don’t worry! Variety also reports Wes Craven is about to direct his first original script since 1994’s New Nightmare! It’s a thriller called 25/8 and it couldn’t be as bad as last year’s The Hills Have Eyes 2 remake, could it? I mean, somehow that script took Wes Craven AND his son, but that’s no reason to be doubtful, right?

Tell ya what, let’s just call it even. Do yourself a favor and watch perhaps the best Romero film of them all, Martin, and pretend you never read this post. We can be optimistic again later.
