Roy Scheider Dead At 75
Numerous sources confirm that actor Roy Scheider, who personally took on legendary man-eater Jaws as Chief Martin Brody, has passed away at age 75. Academy Award nominated for his classic roles in The French Connection and All That Jazz, Scheider died on February 10th at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock. No official cause of death has been released, but the actor was diagnosed with myeloma in 2004, an incurable bone disease he later underwent a bone marrow transplant for.
From his legacy of film roles like Cronenberg’s Naked Lunch or John Schlesinger’s Marathon Man, to his television work on shows like SeaQuest DSV or Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Scheider had a long and lasting career that won’t soon be forgotten by fans of pretty much every genre. His last film, Iron Cross, is still currently in post-production, so for now why don’t you pop one of his classics in the DVD player and watch the man at work. You won’t be dissapointed.
