Los Angeles Geeks: Eli Roth Loves You
Just a heads up to anyone in the greater Los Angeles area, the continually incredible New Beverly Cinema will be continuing its recent tradition of director film festivals this month with guest programmer Eli Roth. Maybe you caught the gigantic film fest that Quentin Tarantino hosted back when Grindhouse was coming out, or maybe you attended Edgar Wright’s (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) festival right before Christmas or maybe you’ve never been anywhere. No matter what your experience is with my favorite theater in LA, now is the time for more fun.
Starting February 17th through March 1st, the ‘Greats of Roth’ fest will feature a lineup of double features hand picked as favorites by Eli Roth himself. He’ll introduce select screenings (schedule permitting), and you never know who’ll drop by to help things out. We saw everyone from John Landis to Jack Hill drop by to say hi in the past, so it’s always a thrill. And of course, there are the movies themselves:
February 17-19: Torso / Pieces
February 20-21: Mother’s Day / Creepshow
February 22-23: Carrie / Zapped!
February 24-26: The Apple / Stunt Rock
February 27-28: The Blair Witch Project / Cannibal Holocaust
February 29-March 1st: Bachelor Party / Caddyshack
The New Beverly just got some renovation done too, so there’s no better time to come and show your support, see these classics on the big screen again, and generally just have a sweet time. I’ll be there, so feel free to say hi. Just don’t talk through the movies, or I’ll throw my Cherry Coke on you.
