Fox sues Warner Bros. over ‘Watchmen’

Zack Snyder’s (300) upcoming movie Watchmen due out in 2009 may be delayed, much to the fan’s chagrin. Watchmen is based on the Hugo Award-winning graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. Apparently, Fox alleges they still hold all rights to develop, produce and distribute any film based on the graphic novel.

Pictures) from taking actions that violate Fox’s copyrights and which stand to forever impair Fox’s rights to control the distribution and development of this unique work.”] — The Hollywood Reporter

As fans, we hope this is settled quickly. We would hate to see this movie not made, which has been bouncing around from studio to studio, producer to producer, for many years (which turns out to be part of the confusion, leading to the law suit).
