First Look
Fincher To Direct “Black Hole” Adaptation
Sick of the Academy Awards coverage already? Gary Busey molesting Jennifer Garner on the red carpet not enough of a thrill for ya? Well, forget that jazz because there’s more important news at hand: David Fincher is taking over the film adaptation of Charles Burn’s cult graphic novel Black Hole. Fangoria.com has announced that Alejandre Aja (director of High Tension, and the excellent The Hills Have Eyes remake) has left the project with Fincher picking up the reigns, apparently not busy enough with his other two upcoming features The Killer and Torso (also based on a graphic novel, by Powers‘ writer Brian Michael Bendis).
Burn’s award-winning Black Hole follows a group of suburban teens in the ’70’s who contract a sexually transmitted “teen plague”, causing bizarre hallucinations and physical mutations. The script adapting the 12 issue miniseries was written by none other than Roger Avary (Pulp Fiction, The Rules of Attraction) and Neil Gaiman, who recently worked together on the Beowulf adaptation. Look, there’s basically no reason to not be excited about SOME part of this news, so skip the pre-show fashion reports and see if you can score some Burns’ goodness at your local comic book store, eh?
