‘Cliffhanger 2’ … Come On, Really?

OK, this is just starting to get stupid. Seriously. Stallone has managed to save his steroid-shootin’ “ah crap, I’m gettin’ old” time to retire to the Keys career by following the typical Hollywood strategy of sequels and remakes. Sure, the box office has treated him well so far with Rocky Balboa and Rambo, but apparently now he’s in talks with Sony to make The Dam, a sequel to Cliffhanger (1993). Well, I think its a damn shame. Now, I have no quarrel with the man trying to make a living, even if he does now look more like a caricature of himself than the real thing. I suppose what really bothers me more than his current trend of motion picture choices is that there are a lot of us contributing to his paycheck. Are we really that void of cinematic adventure and curiosity that we settle with former action star in his golden years making sequels to his own movies? What’s next, a sequel to Over the Top? |
