Oscar-winner “Crash” to become TV show
Â
Because you asked for it, the 2005 Oscar winner for best picture is heading to the small screen. The 13-episode series is expected to bow later this year on the Starz network and is being produced by Paul Haggis, Don Cheadle, and four more producers from the film. This is the second best film Oscar winner to become a TV series, following the trail of “In the Heat of the Night,” a show that lasted seven seasons. Both stories explore race and class and bigotry. It’s too bad “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” didn’t win best picture. Wouldn’t we all be in for a treat. In case you missed “Crash,” it plays like an R-rated version of an “After School Special,” complete with name calling and fisticuffs. Like “Crash,” you can buy “After School Special” on DVD. Or, you could save your money and buy something else, like, I don’t know…a gun or something.
