The one-time heavy metaller and now director of white trash-filled horror movies is, once again, going back to the remake well.  According to Variety, Rob Zombie will write, direct and produce a remake of the 1958 horror classic, ‘The Blob.’

My intention is not to have a big red blobby thing — that’s the first thing I want to change.  That gigantic Jello-looking thing might have been scary to audiences in the 1950s, but people would laugh now.

Zombie’s words make us wonder if his next film will feature an all-CG creation, and, if that’s the case, it probably won’t be much scarier than the original.

Zombie will be producing with Genre Co.’s Richard Saperstein, a former Dimension Films president who developed a relationship with Zombie.  According to Sapersteing, they have a budget of around $30 million and the film will absolutely be an R-rated film.

Says Zombie about the idea to make the film:

I’d been looking to break out of the horror genre, and this really is a science fiction movie about a thing from outer space.  I intend to make it scary, and the great thing is I have the freedom once again to take it in any crazy direction I want to.

Production is set to begin in the Spring.  Of course, for anyone who has been following Zombie’s directorial career, this still leaves his long-time gestating project ‘Tyrannosaurus Rex’ waiting in the wings.  Last we heard, he planned to open ‘Halloween II,’ release a new album this Fall, begin a musical tour through the Winter and early Spring, and begin work on ‘T Rex’ sometime first or second quarter 2010.  The news of his remaking ‘The Blob’ seems to another sidestep along the path of ‘Tyrannosaurus Rex’s production.

With the follow-up to ‘Halloween’ just a few weeks away, and with ‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto’ on its way to DVD shelves next month, it seems Rob Zombie’s career as a filmmaker is in full effect.   Today, thanks to the heads up by /Film, we have the teaser trailer for ‘El Superbeasto.’

This looks like a nice piece of insanity is headed for our TV screens.   It features the voices of Rosario Dawson, Paul Giamatti, Danny Trejo, Sheri Moon Zombie, Clint Howard, Brian Posehn, Bill Moseley, Sid Haig, and Dee Wallace.   It hits video stores on September 22nd.

Also in the news today is this bit of information Zombie dropped while speaking with Shock Till You Drop.

The plan is to go on tour for a while then finally come back and make Tyrannosaurus Rex. Because that got shoved off to the side and that was a film I really wanted to make. It’s like Rejects on steroids.

The plan is that Zombie finishes up the ‘Halloween II’ promo train, release a new album near the end of October or beginning of November, then go on tour for a bit.   Once finished with that, he plans to dive into the world of ‘Tyrannosaurus Rex,’ which is being billed as ‘Raging Bull’ meets ‘The Road Warrior.’   So, this time next year, production is looking to have begun on the film, and we could be looking at a release date sometime very late 2010 or early 2011.

It’s been awhile since we heard any news on the front of ‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto,’ Rob Zombie’s twisted foray into the world of animation.  With ‘Halloween II’ getting fast-tracked, it looked like ‘El Superbeasto’ was quite a ways off from seeing the light of day.  Fortunately, the film is coming out, and it is coming out in just a few, short months.

According to DVD Active, the film is set for DVD and Blu-Ray releases on September 22nd.  They even have images of the cover art, which you can scope out just below.

‘El Superbeasto’ is about a washed-up Mexican luchador (voice of Tom Papa) who, along with his sidekick Suzi-X (voice by Sheri Moon Zombie), sets out to do battle with the diabolical Dr. Satan (voice by Paul Giamatti).  Look for cameo appearances by Captain Spaulding and Otis from Zombie’s ‘House of 1000 Corpses’/'Devil’s Rejects’ films. Other voices that pop up in the film include Rosario Dawson, Danny Trejo, Clint Howard, Harland Williams, Dee Wallace, Brian Posehn, and Daniel Roebuck. We Are Movie Geeks best she-friend, Tura Satana, also makes an appearance as Varla.

‘The Haunted World of El Superbeasto’ hits the DVD shelves on September 22nd.

I don’t know about you, but looking at that post above, I feel like I missed Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween 1 1/2: The Liquidation of Michael Myers,’ where the Shape put all his finances in one nestegg and his financial world collapsed.   Now, in ‘H2,’ he finds himself out on the streets, wearing dirty, hobo clothes, scrounging for scraps from the Haddonfield wealth.

I guess that’s Myers’ subconcious figurehead standing there in the background, kind of his Jiminy Crickett who whispers poor stock market advice in his ear while he sleeps.

So, grab your favorite shopping cart, cuddle up under a stack of newspaper, and prepare yourselves for ‘H2,’ subtitled ‘The Foreclosure of Michael Myers.’

Surprisingly, this pic gives away a lot of detail about Myers’ new look in the film.   That mask is pretty jacked up and is starting to look more like Leatherface than The Shape.

Do you know me?   Am I excited for ‘H2′?   If you answered yes to the first question, then you damn sure better have answered yes to the second.   I know I’ve trounced some of the stuff that’s come out of Zombie’s new film’s production (ie. maskless Michael and shots of Weird Al), but I am a diehard ‘Halloween’ fan through and through, and nothing is going to stop me from being there opening day to check out this entry into the franchise.

Today, we bring you the trailer for ‘H2′ courtesy of Yahoo! movies.   This debuted last weekend in front of NY and LA prints of ‘Crank: High Voltage,’ but it is now out there for all the world to see.

For those of you expecting to see the first teaser trailer for Rob Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ follow-up this past weekend in front of ‘Crank: High Voltage,’ I only say, “You should’a moved to the coast.”   That teaser was in front of prints that were only shipped to New York and Los Angeles.   However, Entertainment Tonight came through for us.

In this video, we get the ET clip, but then we also get a slo-mo version of the shot where we see Michael’s new mask.

Personally, I’m not digging on the hood all that much.   I absolutely love the shots of Michael in the shadows walking down the stairwell.   Very reminiscent of the original ‘Halloween II.’

Thanks to Ryan Rotten, from shocktillyoudrop.com, we’ve learned that Rob Zombie has apparently been approached by David Fincher and Kevin Eastman to possibly direct one of the segments for the new remake of the ‘Heavy Metal’ animated anthology film. Rotten has been visiting the set of ‘H2′ and spoke with Zombie’s producer Andy Gould, who laid out the news. It was also mentioned what they had in mind, that Zombie could do “something that could fuse his story with his music.”

What you see here is not an official entry into the final marketing for Zombie’s ‘Halloween’ follow-up. Â  It is a potential final poster, but it has not been selected by Dimension to be released in theater lobbies.

Regardless, I really like the design. Â  There hasn’t been much use of the pumpkin in ‘Halloween’ marketing since the original ‘Halloween 2,’ and this design uses them creepily and effectively.

Shock till you drop passed the above poster along, which was created by The Refinery, the same company that put together ‘H2′s teaser poster. Â  When an official, final poster for ‘H2′ comes out, we’ll let you know. Â  Until then, enjoy this leaked contender.

Apparently, what we are looking at is Scout Taylor-Compton’s Laurie Strode on he operating table mere minutes after her horrifying encounter with Michael Myers at the end of ‘Halloween’.

As Zombie notes on his blog: “Well, we made it through the first three days. Everything is going great. This film is going to blow away my last trip to Haddonfield. Ultra gritty, ultra intense and very real. Here is a sneak peek of Laurie moments after being wheeled in to the ER.”

‘H2′ looks to slash its way into theaters on August 28th.

Just a quick note here.   Apparently there have been rumors going around that Malcolm McDowell would not be returning to reprise his role of Dr. Sam Loomis in ‘H2′.   Rob Zombie slapped those rumors down on his Myspace page.

Rumors have it that Malcolm will not be returning as Dr. Loomis. Well, as usual the rumors are wrong. Malcolm McDowell will be back and ready to deal with big Mike.

So there!   ‘H2′ comes out on August 28th.

Rob Zombie’s new best friend appears to be Myspace. Â  The guy is alwasy updating his blog with new information on ‘H2′. Â  This week, he brings us a sneak peak at what the new mask will look like.

Wayne Toth, who designed the mask for Zombie’s first ‘Halloween’ is designing this one as well.

It’s a little too early to tell if it looks much different, but apparently the end result will be quite different.

Also, ‘H2′ got an official release date this week. Â  It had been speculated that it would actually get a Halloween ’09 release. Â  You’d think that would be the ideal time, but, apparently, the Weinsteins think the end of summer is the best time to release a ‘Halloween’ movie. Â  ’H2′ will be released on August 28th.

Rob Zombie apparently had a little ‘Smackdown’ fever as his newest bit of concept art for the much-anticipated and seemingly still far off movie ‘Tyrannosaurus Rex’ boasts T-Rex in a no holds bar wrestle-mania  move against one big ugly wrestler dude. All I can say is that with all the artwork he’s doing, it sure is setting the movie up for big expectations. If it does stay true to the images Zombie is putting out there, it ought to be one helluva awesome ride!

Jared over at Arrow in the Head caught this… Rob Zombie has posted a new music track on his MySpace page titled ‘Tyrranosaurus Rex’ … could this be the theme song for his upcoming new movie? Or, maybe it’s just a promotional teaser? Who knows? Go give it a listen though, it’s pretty cool either way…

Not that we ever had any doubt about how kick ass his projects would be, this makes us even more excited. I also still think that is supposed to be Danny Trejo, and perhaps Sherri Moon?
