Not counting ours of course, we decided to scour the web(we know these sites by heart) and give you a list of the 10 best movie sites for you to visit when you aren’t coming here.

10. GordonandtheWhale.com

Probably the least known site on this list, I met these guys at SXSW this passed year and instantly fell in love with their site and enthusiasm for movies. After checking out their content they really specialize in Video stuff, from reviews to interviews their stuff is really entertaining.

After checking out their content they really specialize in Video stuff, from reviews to interviews their stuff is really entertaining.

http://gordonandthewhale.com

09. HorrorMovies.ca

Even though these guys are from Canada we wont hold it against them! Honestly though this is my absolute favorite Horror site on the web, and back when we ran HackSlashDead.com we sourced them alot. Definitely check them out if you want to keep up on Horror stuff.

http://horrormovies.ca

08. ScreenRant.com

A fellow Dad movie blogger like myself, Vic runs one great movie site. Screen Rant provides movie reviews, news, and a slew of other great content. I definitely check them out on a regular basis for news, trailers and casting info.

http://screenrant.com

07. ComingSoon.net

Although I dont frequent Coming Soon all that often it is still a great resource for news and exclusive stories. These guys have a lot of access that I could only dream of.

http://comingsoon.net

06. Collider.com

Collider is the place you want to be for set visits, breaking news, and hardcore reporting! Frosty(Steve) was dishing on ‘Wolverine’ reshoots when I first met him at Sundance last year and from that point forward I dont doubt anything he posts.

http://collider.com

05. FirstShowing.net

I dont want to go the way of the cool kids and call Mr Billington a fanboy, he just really loves movies! You will get movie reviews, interviews, and some exclusive stuff from time to time. Dont expect to go to see site and read reviews as if he was a 40 year old balding movie critic, instead expect the point of view from a geeky twenty something and you will enjoy yourself.

Alex is also responsible for bringing the Bob Stencil hijinix to Sundance last year(and the 3rd floor of the condo).

http://firstshowing.net

04. LatinoReview.com

The Latino Review guys do alot of script reviews which is something that no other site(that I know of) is offering. So if you want to know how that new Eddie Murphy movie is going to turn out based off the script alone(and not the fact that its starring Eddie Murphy and directed by Brett Ratner), they will be able to tell you.

http://latinoreview.com

03. Cinematical

The “Big Dogs” on the list, these guys are owned by AOL and usually get all the “exclusive” stuff when it comes to posters, first images and things of that sort. They also have a few really great columns on their site, one of which is run by Elisabeth Rappe.

http://cinematical.com

02. FilmSchoolRejects.com

Neil and his group of Austin hipsters(i love you guys) bring some of the best movie columns that you can read on the web, they also do some pretty killer interviews and rock festival cover like no one else. Not to mention Neil is one of my fellow blogger condo housemates from Sundance this past year, and hopefully next year too.

http://filmschoolrejects.com

01. SlashFilm.com

Pete is loved by many, especially women, and his site has some really kick ass content. He also won every movie blog award you can possibly win for 2008 so that helps his case as being #1 on this site as well. 2 columns will keep you coming back, Video of the Day(just like it sounds) and Cool Stuff(a great movie geek column for shirts, gadgets, products, and everything else that is “cool”).

…

Let me explain my unique situation to this case. Having lived in West Memphis for a year prior to the murders, the 3 boys that were murdered Michael, Chris and Steve were all close friends of myself and my brother Aaron. We all attended the same cub scout meetings and Michael’s father Todd was our scout leader. To say we were close with the boys would be an understatement.

Being the young, impressionable age of 12 I just believed whatever I was told by the local news and police department to be true. In 2000, at age 17, I re-watched the first documentary, which was immediately followed by the premiere airing of ‘Paradise Lost: Revelations’ on HBO I was blown away when I came to the realization that they were not guilty and had been wrongfully imprisoned all these years.

Then came the guilty, gut wrenching thoughts of my mom having a hand in their convictions. Having to admit being wrong does not come easily for the men of my family, but I was determined to right the wrongs of my family. I quickly jumped to the Internet forums, and WM3.org to pledge my support for them which was a tough decision as most of the people that are directly linked to it still believed that they were guilty.

So here we are, 9 years since then and these guys are still fighting for their innocence in a battle that is getting more and more difficult as time goes on. Couple that with the fact that Judge Burnett, the original judge on the case has moved up in the ranks and still resides over any appeals case that comes from these guys. If you think its difficult for me to admit being wrong, how hard would it be to admit you handed down a death sentence and 2 other life without parole convictions to innocent men.

To make matters worse, John Mark Byers is promoting the book of his life story and jumped shipped to become a “supporter” of the WM3. I normally would welcome any supporters because every little bit helps but the simple fact of the whole thing is its very obvious this is a marketing ploy to help his book sales. The book titled ‘Untying The Knot::John Mark Byers and the West Memphis Homicides’ keeps getting a delayed release and at this point it seems it wont be coming out anytime soon, or at least not until ‘Paradise Lost 3′ comes out. The man who spent every waking moment of the last 15 years cursing the WM3 is now a supporter right around the same time a book on his life..do the math.

Let me also tell you that the front John Mark Byers puts up for the camera and everyone around him is ridiculous and should be outed. We lived about 4 houses down from Mark and Melissa before the murders happened and frequented the Moore house across the street from them after the murders happened. I have been inside of their house, hung out with Ryan(Chris’ older brother), and saw the relationship he had with Chris. I have no idea where he mustered the tears up and something that resembled grieving for the documentaries but I can tell you that as a parent of 2 children I could never treat or do the things that he did to Christopher.

I witnessed first hand the abuse and neglect that Mark gave to Chris, so for him to cry on camera about how much he loved his stepson is appalling. Lucky for Mark there were no camera’s around to capture how he treated Chris before the murders happened, unfortunately for him I am here to give you all the truth of the matter.

Its an American travesty that these guys are locked up, and have been locked up for the last 16 years based on no evidence, and a proven coerced confession. When will these men see real justice brought to their case is the real question, I just wish I had the answer.

***UPDATE***

I have since gotten a response from Greg Day who wrote the John Mark Byers book about a possible interview with Mr Byers. Here is what he initially had to say about the interview:

“Scott,

I talked to Mark today and he said he has no interest in talking to you, and that in any event he doesn’t do phone interviews.

If I can be of any further assistance to you, please let me know.

Regards,

Greg Day”

I responded with the fact that we could do a Face to Face interview, and I’d even find someone else besides myself to do it, again his response:

“To be blunt about it, Mark is simply not interested in having anything to do with the Hutcheson clan, and I doubt that anything would change his mind. Your mother’s recent revelations aside, without her perjured testimony and manipulation of your brother, there may very well have been no WM3 to talk about today.

I’m sorry I can’t be of any further assitance to you.”

Wow, to blame 2 separate cases on the testimony of 1 person that only testified in the first case and had nothing to do with the other is absolutely amazing. I guess when you spend a significant amount of time buying into someone that you wrote their life story about it is very easy to be misinformed.

…

Top Ten Tuesday features a different top ten list every week, and on Tuesday. Today we are focusing on the greatest comedy duo’s from 1990-present. Check back weekly for a new top ten list.

10. Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan

Sure, ‘Rush Hour 3′ was a disaster, but the first two installments in this franchise were as fun as a barrel of monkeys. Really, I’ve compared them and it’s true. I love Jackie Chan. LOVE him! But, this isn’t just about Jackie. Putting him together with Chris Tucker was an unexpected joy. They play well off of each other and the chemistry, while not perfect, fits well.

Lee: Ah! Beach Boys!
Carter: Oh, hell no! You didn’t just touch my goddamn radio!
Lee: The Beach Boys are great American music.
Carter: The Beach Boys gonna get you a great ass whuppin’. Don’t you ever touch a black man’s radio, boy! You can do that in China but you can get your ass killed out here, man!

9. Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman

‘Weekend at Bernies’ will never be on a top movies of all time list but that doesnt mean that Andrew McCarthy and Jonathan Silverman dont deserve to make our list of greatest comedy duos. If you dont agree with me then I hate you and your opinion sucks.

8. Beavis and Butthead

One of the only cartoons i have ever really been able to watch since i was about 9 was Beavis and Butthead. We werent allowed to watch it my house so I usually had to either sneak the rental on VHS,
or wait for reruns on FX. Although most of their stuff was TV based they did one movie called ‘Beavis and Butthead Do America’ which my cousin Jerrad and I managed to see in theaters 6 times. It hurt me to put them so low on the list, but I couldnt come up with a better reason to put them any higher than this. My favorite Beavis and Butthead episode is ‘Sperm Bank’, check it out.

7. John Favreau and Vince Vaughn

The above picture was from the first of two John Favreau/Vince Vaughn starring movies, the second being ‘Made’. Both are almost as equally funny but I think I prefer ‘Made’ over ‘Swingers’ (gasp!) just because Vince Vaughn had honed his delivery a little bit more, but Favreau is classic in both movies. If you havent seen ‘Made’ then do yourself a favor and go out and buy it baby, its money.

6. Jeff Bridges and John Goodman

Seriously if I need to explain why ‘The Big Lebowski’ is on this list then maybe you shouldnt be here enjoying all of the awesomeness that we serve up to you on a daily basis. Jeff Bridges and John Goodman bring the thunder that is known as pure comedy badassness to your house, shower, take a poop without flushing, expose themselves to your grandma and then leave without saying goodbye.

5. Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are pure comic gold and its obvious if you ahve seen ‘Step Brothers’ or ‘Talladega Nights’. Will Ferrell makes anyone look good, and seem funny but John C. Reilly can really bring it himself so these guys are a perfect duo and have 2 freaking funny movies together. Although alot of people hated ‘Step Brothers’ I think its one that needs multiple viewings and you cant truely apprecaite everything after the first viewing. Check out some of these freaking awesome quotes:

Dale Doback: Suppose Nancy sees me coming out of the shower and decides to come on to me. I’m looking good, got a luscious v of hair going through my chest pubes down to my ball fro. She takes one look at me and goes ” Oh my god, I’ve had the old bull now I want the young calf” and grabs me by the weiner.

and another:

Brennan Huff: Listen, I know that we started out as foe. But after that courageous act that you showed me against the one they call Derek, maybe someday we could become friends. Friends who ride majestic, translucent steeds, shooting flaming arrows across the bridge of Hemdale.
Dale Doback: I would follow you into the myths of Avalon if that’s what you mean.

4. Tenacious D: Jack Black and Kyle Gass

Jack Black and Kyle Gass are Tenacious D, even though their one movie together as Tenacious D failed by most people’s standards, but mix in their comedy rock albums, the television show and you have one of the best comedy duos ever. Besides, ‘F%^$ Her Gently’ is one of the best rock ballads of all time.

3. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost

Frost and Pegg, just the sound of those two names together makes me laugh because I know if they appear in a movie together I’ll soon be experiencing the glorious pain of laughter-excursion. These guys know comedy, but they also know movies in general, which is why ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ are nearly perfect. Comedic timing, physical comedy, sarcasm and the clear and obvious influence of being true movie geeks all add up to the newest and perhaps most talents comedic duo to emerge in recent years.

Ed: Any zombies out there?
Shaun: Don’t say that!
Ed: What?
Shaun: That!
Ed: What?
Shaun: The zed-word. Don’t say it!
Ed: Why not?
Shaun: Because it’s ridiculous!
Ed: All right… are there any out there, though?
[looking out of the letter-box, he sees an empty street]
Shaun: I can’t see any. Maybe it’s not as bad as all that.
[he turns his head and sees a pack of zombies]
Shaun: Oh, no, there they are.

2. Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd

You could have coupled Seth Rogen in with anyone, and the same could be said with Jason Segel/Paul Rudd. I decided to go with these guys based off ’40 Year Old Virgin’, and ‘Knocked Up’ which arent even soley these guys together but their scenes often times make the movie. The “you know how I know you’re gay” scene in 40 Year Old Virgin still makes me smirk when I think about it, and watching it nearly makes me pee everytime.

Cal: You’re gay, now?
David: No, I’m not gay. I’m just celibate.
Cal: I think… I mean, that sounds gay. I just want you to know this is, like, the first conversation of, like, three conversations that leads to you being gay. Like, there’s this and then in a year it’s like, “Oh, you know, I’m kinda gonna want to get back out there, but I think I like guys,” and then there’s the big, “Oh, I’m… I’m… I’m a gay guy now.”
David: You’re gay for saying that.
Cal: I’m gay for saying that?
David: You know how I know you’re gay?
Cal: How? How do you know I’m gay?
David: Because you macram&eacuted yourself a pair of jean shorts.
Cal: You know how I know *you’re* gay? You just told me you’re not sleeping with women any more.
David: You know how I know you’re gay?
Cal: How? Cause you’re gay? And you can tell who other gay people are?
David: You know how I know you’re gay?
Cal: How?
David: You like Coldplay.

1. Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes

What more needs to be said about Jay and Silent Bob? They started off as mere drug dealers in ‘Clerks’ and evolved into the superheroes ‘Bluntman and Chronic’ that is featured in ‘Chasing Amy’ and ‘Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’. I still think Kevin Smith needs to be a full feature superhero movie. Kevin Smith plays the silent one, hence the name Silent Bob. Jason Mewes plays the wise cracking, super horny leader of the group Jay. I shouldnt have to tell you why these guys are number 1, so if you need to know anymore than that go out and watch the complete View Askew library you jerk.
