Remember the insane slasher flick Mother’s Day from 1980? Well, how about a remake? How about a remake produced by Brett Ratner? How about a remake produced by Brett Ratner and directed by Darren Lynn Bousman?

The remake of one of Troma Picture’s earliest films is in the scrip stage with Franck Khalfoun (‘P2′) and Ratner working diligently on it. Evidently, Ratner is a huge fan of the original, which actually explains a lot if you think about it.

No word yet on what studio is backing it. Bousman’s involvement is just talk right now, though the Saw II, III, and IV director has stated recently that he is working on a remake that he believes “people will embrace.”

Brett Ratner is going the way of Uwe Boll, and by that I mean effing up great video games when he adapts them into movies. Ratner is one up on Uwe though because he effs up more than just Video Game movies… he doesn’t discriminate, he screws them all up equally.

here is some info on the God of War video game series…

here is some info on the God of War video game series…

“More than ten years in the past, Kratos was a young and ambitious Spartan captain. He became a servant to Ares, the God of war, during a battle against an immense barbarian horde numbering in the thousands, Kratos and his men were far outnumbered. After the merciless Barbarian onslaught couldn’t be stopped by the disciplined Spartans, Kratos realising that he could not win, offered his life and servitude to Ares in exchange for salvation. Ares who saw the makings of a God in this mortal, heeded this plea and subsequently saved Kratos and his men from a massacre, using his power to destroy the barbarians. He then instructed Kratos to rebuild his army and use it to conquer areas of Greece, as a display of devotion and piety to Ares. He granted Kratos great strength, and also gave him the “Blades of Chaos”; short-bladed swords connected to long, whip-like chains seared to Kratos’s arms, impossible to remove. The blades also served as a reminder of Kratos’ pledge.”

this also means we can expect to see 4 more after this one because lets face it, he doesn’t know when to stop(Rush Hour 3?). MTV Movie Blog is reporting that he is gearing the movie towards kids this time..great.

“Each of the previous three “Cop†movies were rated R, and Murphy’s machine gun mouth, which spewed expletive after expletive in those days, was as much a part of the character as anything else. Surely, his swearing wouldn’t be lost in the translation?

Maybe. When asked what is biggest challenge would be, Ratner seemed to indicate that his new film would be geared towards a very PG audience.

“10-year-old kids, 12-year-old kids don’t really know the old ‘Beverly Hills Cop.’ So it’s an opportunity to make it new for kids,†Ratner said. “The same way it felt for me watching ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ when I was a kid, that’s what I want to do for kids today.†”

I am going to go on record and officially say that Brett Ratner, if you screw up BHC4 I wont see any of your future movies, and we will boycott you ala Uwe Boll.
