Most big-time critics absolutely hate the Fast and the Furious movies. Why, you might ask? Well, the acting isn’t ever completely top notch, the story lines are unbelievable and the racing is just too unrealistic for them, but the wonderful thing about these movies is that to the real people, none of that matters. To preteens, teenagers and adults who have been fans for almost a decade, it doesn’t matter that the movies will never win an Oscar. What does matter is how fast and furious these films actually are, and as a fan from the beginning, I am telling you the newest addition is more than just fast and furious. It will be the most fun you have had in the movies in a long, long time.

After eight long years the original cast if finally back and ready to hit the streets to where these movies first kicked off. The first couple minutes of the movie will remind you of the first time you saw were introduced to the story. It gives you that, ‘this is going to be really good’ feeling, and from there things only go up, and rather quickly.

There is a major turn of events within the first few minutes that really sets up the story line and I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone. I will say that Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) is still with the agency he was with from the beginning, and he meets up with Dom (Vin Diesel), and the two aren’t happy to see each other, as things ended on bad terms if you saw The Fast and Furious.

Michelle Rodriguez and Jordan Brewster are both back as well. Brewster has a larger part in Fast & Furious than she ever had in the first, and actually steals a few of the scenes. Other than that Vin Diesel really carries this movie like it is completely his own, which was totally fine with me. His character is tougher than ever, and when you see him on the screen you know something awesome is about to happen.

The movie was directed by Justin Lin who also directed Tokyo Drift, but fortunately the two have few in common and I have a feeling this one will be much more successful than his first. Another welcomed addition to the movie was the amount of humor that was used. It definitely isn’t a comedy by any means, but more than once the audience would crack up and break out in applause. I would definitely recommend going back and re-watching the series before checking this one out to understand the inside jokes.

As always the soundtrack was spot on as well. The fast cars and fast music combine to make an experience that is hard to forget, and this movie is no different from the others. Everything flows wonderfully.

While I may be being incredibly too lenient for this movie, I am simply a fan who left amazed and didn’t think one single thing was wrong with where this movie went. Critics who are looking for the movie of the century aren’t going to find it in Fast & Furious but that doesn’t mean these movies aren’t well done. If you are a fan or someone just looking for a good movie to see that will kill some time and leave you on the edge of your seat, definitely check this one out.

It’s rated PG-13 for language, some drug use, little sexual content and intense violence. While it may not be the best influence on kids who are learning to drive, I still recommend this movie for anyone from the ages of eleven and up. It’s about an hour and forty minutes. It opens on Friday, April 3, 2009 and is definitely guaranteed to satisfy. It’s fast, furious, fun and pure entertainment.

This Christmas is definitely going to have an impressive line up of films that come out on one of the busiest days of the year for theaters, but is this year going to be bigger than any before? I mean sure there are always impressive movies that come out on Christmas, but I don’t recall a year with a lineup as good as this years.

First we have the children’s movie ‘Bedtime Stories’ staring Kid’s Choice Award winner Adam Sandler, and having him star in this movie is definitely going to win over a number of kids votes if they make it out to the theaters with their parents. Although the movie looks a little iffy, it will definitely appeal to the younger crowd, and if families have kids that have to tag along on Thursday this is probably what they will be paying to see.

Up next on the list of Christmas openers is ‘The Curious Case of Benjamin Button’, which is becoming one of the most talked about movies of the year. For a while the movie looked like it was going to be a bomb, but in the last few months it has definitely become a highly anticipated movie, and is sure to bring in some dough as it is staring the one and only Brad Pitt, who has a pretty successful record when it comes to scoring big in the box office. This movie is sure to hit it big with some of the older crowd who makes it out on Christmas.

‘Marley & Me’ is also opening up on Christmas and you have seen the eight foot cardboard cutout of the cute little puppy in your local theater, you probably caught yourself saying, “Aw, we need to see this!.” Then you went along to read the poster and saw it was staring Jennifer Aniston and Owen Wilson, and by then this became a movie you were almost definitely going to see. I can see this one being popular with the lovey-dovey couples who want to spend their Christmas seeing a cute movie about a cute little dog.

‘Valkyrie’ is yet another opening on Christmas, and to me this looks like it’s going to be the flop of the weekend. The movie hasn’t really caught my attention as good but I am sure a lot of people have their different opinions. Tom Cruise does star in the movie which is sure to help, but his name isn’t what it used to be, and it may need more than that to be successful. Who knows, maybe a bunch of veterans will make their way out to the theaters this weekend and check this one out.

Last but not least is ‘The Spirit’ which will probably be the most unappreciated and unnoticed movie this Thursday. The short, action-packed movie will probably attract the attention of middle aged men with good taste who want to see a bad ass movie to heat things up this Christmas. It’s a Frank Miller movie, and I think that is enough said. If I am going to make it out to the theaters, this is what I am going to be seeing.

So that’s what we have this year and it surely doesn’t make decision making very easy. Cute dogs, Adam Sandler, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and a Frank Miller movie, all opening on Christmas. This doesn’t include what opened last weekend, ‘Yes Man’, ‘Seven Pounds’ and ‘The Tale of Despereaux’ which will still get some attention from people who like Jim Carrey or Will Smith, and seriously, who doesn’t like either of them? And I am sure, or at least hope, that more and more people will go and see what the fuss is all about with ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ if it’s availible in more theaters.

So what will you be seeing this Christmas? Do you normally see a movie during the holidays, and if not, will you this year? Comment below and let us know!

Apparently Rainn has kidnapped Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesly) and his holding her hostage until his new movie grosses over $18 million. All of this information can be found on her Myspace, which of course was kidnapped as well.

Click below to see the blog he posted on her Myspace.

Here is the blog he posted on her Myspace.

My name is Rainn Wilson and I’ve kidnapped the lovely Jenna, put her, bound, in the trunk of my firebird and logged onto her MySpace to send out this bulletin.

To free America’s sweetheart, Pam Beesly, one half of the magic which is ‘Jam’, you must attend my new movie, ‘The Rocker’, which opens August 20th.

As soon as the film grosses 18.7 Mil, she will be released and given a peach smoothie.

I’ve also recently discovered that August 20th is truly a special and historic day. Estonia achieved it’s independence! Sting got married to Trudy Skyler! What better way to celebrate the magic of Sting and Estonia than by seeing what is perhaps the greatest film ever made (about a heavy metal drummer).

Many of you have perhaps seen posters of me in my leopard briefs, or the trailers in which my balls get racked by a power strip. And, although the film WILL be adored by legions of teen-aged male Dwight fans, it will also be loved by the whole GD family, including Amish cousins.

It truly is a fun and lovely coming-of-age, rock n’roll comedy and good reviews are coming in, including two thumbs up from Ebert and Roeper and also from my son, Walter (who has three of them).

Also, if you’re a fan of:

Will Arnett, Christina Applegate, Jason Sudeikis, Jane Lynch, Emma Stone, Jeff Garlin, Demitri Martin, Fred Armisen, Bradley Cooper, Pope Benedick III, WINGS (the show and/or the back-up band), coral reefs, soup, Former Mayor Ed Koch, the guy who played Norm on Cheers, baby Suri, dairy, Coldplay, Animal Planet or the letter “Q”…

YOU WILL LOVE THIS MOVIE!

So… Please spend your 10.50$ American on THE ROCKER, get yourself a popcorn and a Mountain Dew, bring 1800 of your closest friends so that 1) Jenna gets a smoothie and 2) They let me be in another movie someday.

That is all,
Rainn Dietrich Wilson

Obviously this is just a promotional stunt to gain some coverage for his movie, but most of the time when an actor has to sink to this type of promotion the movie isn’t the best. Although this worries me, I am sure Rainn won’t disappoint.

I will be catching an early screening of ‘The Rocker’ tomorrow night and should have a complete review up Wednesday night, and hopefully there are only positive things to say about this film. Keep an eye out for that, and make sure you see the movie so we can get Pam back before the new season starts.

It’s safe to say most teenagers and young adults have seen one of the four ‘Scary Movie’s’. I don’t think many people would be afraid to admit that they laughed quite a bit in the films, and because of that ‘Scary Movie’ has turned into a very successful movie franchise. Of course when a movie is successful there is always one thing that follows. Wannabes.

If you have ever seen ‘Epic Movie’, ‘Date Movie’ or ‘Meet the Spartans’ you have seen what is an attempt of a knockoff ‘Scary Movie’ to get some easy money. Unfortunately it has yet to be done, and probably never will be.

You may be aware that at the end of the month yet another knock-off comedy is going to hit theaters called ‘Disaster Movie’.

It turns out that ‘Disaster Movie’ isn’t going to have any press screenings, and news like this only tells the press one thing; the makers of the movie are trying to hide. The creators of ‘Disaster Movie’ know it’s a bad film and won’t do well if they let the press beat up the movie so they will be having zero screenings. When I first heard about this movie I said it was going to suck so I am not surprised to hear this at all. The moral of this story is simple. Save your money when this movie hits theaters and see something else. There is no way a movie called ‘Disaster Movie’ could possibly be good, and I am sure reviews will have a blast making fun of the movies title. It hits theaters on August 29.

That’s right; a new installment to the Fast and Furious series will hit theaters in the summer of 2009. While the title and story are still being worked out, what is known about the film is the cast. Paul Walker, Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster will all be returning in the film to pick up where they left off after 2 Fast 2 Furious.

The film will be directed by Justin Lin, who also did Tokyo Drift, which gives him a little background of how the movies should work. The film will be a sequel to 2 Fast 2 Furious, and a prequel to Lin’s Tokyo Drift.

Now what a lot of people don’t realize is how much money the Fast and Furious series has made at the box office. Worldwide the three movies together have brought in over 600 million dollars, which goes to show that despite all three averaging bad reviews, there are still some fans out there. Now if they could only get Eva Mendez back, the movie would start looking good early on.
