“Hey, where are the white women at?”
First up at 8pm is Gene Wilder as ‘The Waco Kid’ in Mel Brooks uproarious 1974 comedy classic BLAZING SADDLES.
The Ultimate Western Spoof. A town where everyone seems to be named Johnson is in the way of the railroad. In order to grab their land, Hedley Lemar (Harvey Korman(R.I.P.)), a politically connected nasty person, sends in his henchmen to make the town unlivable. After the sheriff is killed, the town demands a new sheriff from the Governor (Mel Brooks). Hedley convinces him to send the town the first Black sheriff (Cleavon Little) in the west. Bart is a sophisticated urbanite who will have some difficulty winning over the townspeople. We’ll be screening a rare 16mm TV print, which actually has MORE footage than the cut of the film you’re used to seeing.
“I am doing something! I’m crashing an airplane!”
Next at 10pm is HANKY PANKY
Gene Wilder, Gilda Radner, Kathleen Quinlan and Richard Widmark star in this 1982 comedy thriller HANKY PANKY. Wilder plays a New York architect who gets caught up in a web of intrigue when he’s mistaken for a killer. He meets female reporter, Kate Hellman (Radner) who helps him clear his name and he helps her in return by finding her brother’s killers. Michael and Kate are chased by killer, Ransom (Widmark) and his men while they try to find the clues. Gene Wilder and Gilda Radner met on the set of this underrated comedy and were married a couple of years later.
There will be movie trivia with prizes and of course The Way Out Club will have a full bar and Way Out Pizzas for sale. Don’t miss it!
