Emmett / Furla Films has announced an agreement with Hasbro to finance and co-produce three films based on Hasbro properties in the next two years. The deal was announced today by co-founders Randall Emmett & George Furla and Hasbro’s Senior Vice President and head of Hasbro Films, Bennett Schneir. Under this new creative partnership, Emmett / Furla and Hasbro will co-produce these three films along with Brandon Grimes, while Envision Entertainment’s partners Stepan Martisoyan and Remington Chase along with Emmett / Furla will co-finance them. The first movie will be based on MONOPOLY and is slated to begin production in 2013.

We all know how to play and there are certainly enough editions. “The object of the game is to become the wealthiest player through buying, renting and selling property.” Wonder how this will translate onto the big screen. Some of Hasbro’s other brands are TRANSFORMERS, LITTLEST PET SHOP, NERF, PLAYSKOOL, MY LITTLE PONY, G.I. JOE, MAGIC: THE GATHERING and MONOPOLY.

“Randall and George bring enormous passion and commitment to moviemaking,” Hasbro’s Schneir said. “We’re pleased to be partnering with them to bring great stories and entertainment to audiences around the world.”

“We are thrilled to be working with Hasbro. Their iconic brands have translated into great entertainment enjoyed by audiences of all ages worldwide” said Randall Emmett. “We look forward to a very successful partnership and to bringing MONOPOLY to the big screen.”

In addition to producing & financing these 3 pictures, Emmett / Furla is slated to produce 6-8 films within the year. Presently, they are wrapping 2 GUNS, an $85 million production to be released by Universal, followed by LONE SURVIVOR, a $45 million film directed by Peter Berg, starring Mark Wahlberg, which started filming in New Mexico and to be distributed by Universal as well. Most recently, Emmett / Furla’s END OF WATCH opened at No. 1 at the box office.

Films produced by Emmett / Furla include “2 Guns,” “End of Watch,” “Alex Cross,” “The Tomb,” “Broken City,” “The Amityville Horror,” “Rambo,” “Righteous Kill,” “16 Blocks,” “Bad Lieutenant,” “Mechanic,” “The Wicker Man,” “88 Minutes,” “King of California,” “Wonderland” and “Conan the Barbarian,” to name just a few.

Huge passion for film scores, lives for the Academy Awards, loves movie trailers. That is all.
