In celebration of Paramount Pictures’ TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON, Linkin Park performed a special outdoor concert to more than 10,000 fans at Vasilyevsky Spusk of the Red Square in Moscow – with the Kremlin and St. Basil’s Basilica as the backdrop (June 23rd at 9PM Moscow time). The 3D Michael Bay film opened the Moscow International Film Festival.

From Linkin Park:

We are performing what is sure to be an unforgettable show tonight for our Russian fans in Moscow’s Red Square, in celebration of the world premiere event for Transformers: Dark of the Moon. Our production team, along with director Michael Bay, have put together an incredible setup amidst a breathtaking setting. I wish you could all be here to witness this performance in person, but since you can’t, we have partnered with MTV and VH1 to air segments of it worldwide. The premiere event and our performance of “Iridescent” will be highlighted on MTV, MTV2, mtvU, VH1 Classic and Palladia at 8:55pm ET/PT tomorrow, on June 24. A 30-minute piece will air next week on June 30 in English speaking countries. Stay tuned for details and times.

Linkin Park also performed several of their hit songs including the single, “Iridescent,” which is the end title song in the upcoming third Transformers film. The movie opens worldwide beginning June 28th. Stars from the film, Tyrese Gibson, Shia LaBeouf, Josh Duhamel, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Patrick Dempsey, also attended, along with director Michael Bay.

One of the most successful collaborations between music and film, the previous Linkin Park singles to appear in the first two Transformers films, “What I’ve Done” from the first Transformers film, has sold over 4 million downloads worldwide, and “New Divide” from 2009’s Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, crossed the 3 million mark. Both songs were top selling singles for the band, and went to #1 on the modern rock radio charts (with “New Divide” spending 14 weeks there). The special show in Moscow is produced by Live Nation and is occurring during Linkin Park’s upcoming European tour, which began June 11th in Austria with stadium, festival or arena shows in the UK, Germany, Sweden, Norway, Finland, France, Switzerland, Italy & Belgium.

Linkin Park European Tour Dates:

June 25 Munich, Germany @ Messegelaende Riem Stadium

Michael Bay’s TRANSFORMERS: DARK OF THE MOON will open exclusively at 3D and IMAX locations across the country beginning at 9PM local time on Tuesday, June 28th, allowing moviegoers nationwide to be among the first to see the latest installment in the hit franchise, and the first to be shot in 3D. The movie will open wide beginning at 12AM on June 29th.

“Michael Bay has created an incredibly engaging and immersive 3D experience with this latest movie, one that will undoubtedly be among the most entertaining movie going experiences of the summer,” said Paramount’s Vice Chairman Rob Moore. “Providing fans an opportunity to see it early in 3D is a great way to kick off the movie’s opening.”

The executive producers are Steven Spielberg, Michael Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.
