Warner Brothers THE DARK KNIGHT RISES In Talks With Joseph Gordon-Levitt: New Joker Or Maybe Hugo Strange?

One of the best young actors working, 29 year old Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is currently in talks to join the all-star cast of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, according to Deadline. His recent work on INCEPTION with Christopher Nolan possibly led to this opportunity. With a few projects in post-production and yet to start on LOOPER and BREATHERS:A ZOMBIE’S LAMENT, word is he is going to be available for filming in May for the new installation of the caped crusader. As was previously announced, Anne Hathaway has been cast as Selina Kyle and Tom Hardy has been set to play Bane in Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. They will be starring alongside Christian Bale, who returns in the title role of Bruce Wayne/Batman. The film is slated for release on July 20, 2012.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt has an amazing arsenal of work he started back in 1988 that would lend him to pretty much any character Nolan slips him into. But what role is he up for? What is your dream cast for him? WAMG is elated about this news, what about you? Let us know!

  1. why would you even suggest “new joker”? nolan has already said that’s not a possibility. and considering ledger’s work & the situation, it’s slightly offensive.

  2. I think he might be Dick Grayson / Nightwing. Not only could he pull it off, it’d be totally sexy.

    • He would make a good Dick Grayson/Robin/Nightwing. He does have those boyish type of looks. he is a little old to play the teenage Robin, but he is a little young looking compared to his age.

Although Nolan seems to want more realism in his Batman saga. I don’t know if Nolan would agree to a teenage crime fighter in his movies. So maybe Levitt can play an older Robin joining forces with Batman.

  3. I think it would be great to see him play the joker. I know it won’t happen out of respect for Heath. But Joseph was a friend of heaths and played in 10 things I hate about you with him. It wouldn’t be offensive at all. He’d be doing it out of honor. To carry on as the joker from a lost friend, that would be an honor in my eyes. Heath wouldn’t be getting ‘replaced’. They both look alike, and they were both friends. I’d love to see Joseph carry on from Heath
