BORN TO BE WILD 3D Trailer

In July of 2005 I fulfilled a lifelong dream of going to Africa on safari and seeing all the amazing landscapes and animals in one of the last places on earth unspoiled by man.

I went to Nairobi, Kenya and on that trip I had a driver from my hotel ask me if I would like to go see baby elephants. I went without hesitation. It was then that I first experienced the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is basically an orphanage for baby elephants and rhinos that have been found, either lost, abandoned, or orphaned by poachers that kill the mother elephants and rhinos for the illegal ivory trade. That first visit was brief – tourist can see the elephants from behind a rope for one hour each day.

Close physical contact is not allowed because the orphans are being raised to return to the wild and too much trust of humans could be potentially dangerous to their survival. But the tourists bring vital donations that keep the Trust up and running to continue its important conservation of these animals.

I had to see more so I started asking questions. I found out on that with a certain donation, I could become a “foster parent” to a baby elephant or rhino and get “foster parent” privileges such as meeting my baby, taking him/her for a walk, and tucking them into bed for the night. When I returned to the Sheldrick Trust in 2007, I was officially a “foster parent” and spent time with my baby elephant Galdessa and some of her little friends.

BORN TO BE WILD 3D is the new IMAX documentary starring the orphans of the Sheldrick Trust, along with orangutans from an equally important rescue and conservation effort. Following in the footsteps of the BBC’s “Elephant Diaries” and a feature on CBS’s 60 Minutes, Born to Be Wild will bring much needed attention and support for this most important conservation organization.

Synopsis:
