I made plans with my girlfriend at the time (now my wife) to go see a late night movie. Right before the movie, she backed out on me, so I ended up going by myself. On the way to the movie, some drunk decided he was going to drive 45 on a 20mph side street, not stop at his stop sign, and pull out onto the main road at the exact moment my car was in the middle of the intersection. He hit my car dead on the front passenger door. I was pushed across 4 lanes and ended up on the sidewalk across the street. I walked away without any injuries but was told by the cops and paramedics how lucky I was given how bad the car looked. I was never happier that my wife decided to bail on me, as she would have been sitting at the exact point of impact.
Long story short: my dad had to get a pacemaker during my senior year of high school. There were a few complications that led to a longer hospital stay than what was originally anticipated. Meanwhile, I was applying to colleges and I ended up getting invited to Washington University. I didn’t receive enough financial aid to go, but my father, without telling me, turned in all of his financial information for the surgery to the admissions office at WashU. They ended up giving me just enough money to register for the fall. My dad’s better now and all is well in St. Louis.
bad things happen for a reason..I wouldn’t have met my husband if I had chosen to go out to the bar the night my friends met him.He tried dating my girlfriend but she treated him like dirt. she would make a date with him and then tell me to pick her up 30 minutes earlier so she wouldn’t be there. A couple of weeks later she had a party, he came walking in with some friends of mine, I didn’t know who he was. we got to talking and went out after the party to a bar with mine and his friends. He was hesitant on asking me out after the way my friend treated him. but after lots of phone calls to friends he finally decided to take the chance and take me out…If she didn’t treat him like shit I never would have met my husband. we have been together almost 24 years..
I walked out of a bartender job in a sleazy after hours bar in East St. Louis. The money was great but the late hours, dealing with falling down drunks and the location became too much. Six months after leaving the job, One bartender was held at gunpoint during a robbery while the doorman was stab directly in the heart and died an hour later. I guess I really didn’t miss the money that much?!
Well I was going to work one friday morning and just exited off the freeway..I was going down one of the side roads of downtown Atlanta like I do almost everyday..Well all of a sudden I felt and heard a large crash on my car..I thought maybe a brink or something had fell on it..When I stop to see what had happen..I was in shock ! I had hit a person that was jay walking..He was laying on the other side of the street not moving..So I thought I had killed him..He was hurt pretty bad but did make it..He was also ticketed for jay walking…Well that’s not end of the story..At the same time as I can tell..When I was on the side of the road I received a call..It was from my Dad..IHe had called to tell me my Mother just died..Well I can tell you I was so freakout that the accident happen at the same time as my Mom died..I think she was telling me something.! I spoke to my Dad and the doctors and it seems that my Mom died exactly at the time time I hit this person..It really happen !
In the Army I tore up my knee and was placed on rehab right before my battalion went to Germany so the Captain would not let me make the trip. While my unit was gone, a reserve unit was occupying the barracks. Orders for me to ship out to Korea came. Because my C.O. (commanding officer) was in Germany with his unit, I was able to get the reserve unit C.O. to sign off on my orders and I was able to go to Korea, bad knee and all.
To make a long story short I went to the hospital because I was really sick and my skin started turning yellow. Turns out I had to have my gall bladder removed. I had to take a week off work and while I was off I got a call about another, better job. Went in for an interview and got hired that day! I believe EVERYTHING happens for a reason and this truly made a bad situation better!
My dad left my family when I was 11, leaving us broke and uncared for. We are just now getting the benefits. If he hadn’t of left I wouldn’t be the person I am today. I wouldn’t be in the best relationship ever, with the best guy ever. I wouldn’t have the job I do, or the friends I had. My life is just better all around. Not saying I wouldn’t mind having my dad with me..
I lost everything in Florida due to multiple circumstances but I regained much more when I moved up here, though I do want to move back to Florida eventually.
Last winter, our electricity went out for a few hours. Without cable, Xbox & internet, we didn’t know how we would survive! Our kids suggested we start a fire in the fireplace & play Monopoly. It was a wonderful evening & now we have a regular game night.
