Review: PREDATORS

The Predators are back and ready to hunt… humans!

Imagine waking up in a free fall. One second you are living your life, the next you are falling out of the sky into a jungle. That is what happened to Royce (Adrien Brody), Edwin (Topher Grace), Isabella (Alice Braga), Stans (Walter Goggins), Nikolai (Oleg Takarov), Cuchillo (Danny Trejo), Mombasa (Mahershalhalalhashbaz Ali), and Hanzo (Louis Ozawa Changchien). Most were military, or some form of fighter. They were all (but one) predators in their world. Now, they are in some strange new world, with no idea how they got their and no clue how to leave. All they do know is that something very powerful and strange is after them.

Man, this movie was fun! If you are a fan of these handsome creatures, then you are sure to enjoy this flick. The Predators look FANTASTIC! But, with Robert Rodriguez working as one of the producers, it makes sense. They did a great job in keeping the story line simple and straight to the point. There aren’t a ton of side stories, or crazy gimmicks. The film follows the characters as they are picked off one by one by the Predators.

Lawrence Fishburne sneaks into a small role as a crazy man named Noland, who has been stuck on the island for 10 hunting seasons. His mind is completely gone, but he is the longest to survive. Brody ends up outsmarting him, since he is the leader of sorts to this misfit bunch. He makes for a good leader who is smarter than the rest of the pack, except for maybe Isabella. The only part I didn’t like about Brody was that his voice through half of the movie resembled that of Christian Bale in “The Dark Knight”.

One part of the film that is slightly different from the rest of the Predator films is that the characters all seem to have this moral dilemma. They were bad in their previous lives, but now have to decide to help each other out or not. The biggest dilemma happening with Brody, who seems to be a loner.

The only thing I wish is that there were more Predators… then again, the movie could have been all Predators and I would still want more!

Overall Rating: 4 out of 5 stars … and a long Predator crackling sound!

Nerdy, snarky horror lover with a campy undertone. Goonies never say die.
