Review: KNIGHT & DAY

By  |

So, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised with KNIGHT & DAY, the new high-action entry into the summer box office from Tom Cruise.

Tom Cruise plays Roy Miller, a rogue secret agent who is protecting a very special new invention. While in the airport, he bumps into June Havens (Cameron Diaz), a mechanic with a fascination for restoring classic cars. She makes the mistake of getting on the same flight with Miller, and that’s when things start to go wrong. Bad guys, other agents, and arms dealers are all after the object that Miller is sworn to protect. Because of their chance meeting, June is now a target.  The two are now left racing around the world to save the invention, as well as their own lives. Mix in tons of gun play, car chases, and fighting — and you’ve got yourself a fun movie!

Diaz and Cruise were fantastic together. To be honest, I was expecting some hokey, boring movie that based it’s success solely on it’s two A-List actors, but it was actually a fun film. The action was entertaining and Diaz was quite funny. Heck, I forgot that I actually like Tom Cruise in films… especially with all the crazy media attention that he gets.

The only funny thought I had while watching this film was picturing how they made Cruise look as tall as Diaz… did he stand on a box? Their were no full length shots of the two of them side by side… which I understand. It would be rather silly not to match their size, but it’s still a funny little thought!

The action in this film kept me entertained the entire time! The assassins, and even the fight scenes with Cruise were rather impressive. The only thing that could have been a little better would be some of the visual effects. The CG fell a bit short at times despite the larger than life action. The story line was actually rather interesting, since I didn’t feel like I had seen it a million times before… Good show guys!
