Taylor Kitsch Joining Peter Berg at E4

This is how I wanted “Friday Night Lights” to end.  When last we saw Tim Riggins, played by Taylor Kitsch, he was being carted off to jail for a nice, little stint behind bars.  Evidently, the powers that be have made a deal with him, wherein, if he joins the Navy and helps deal with their little alien invasion problem, they’ll shorten his sentence.  Perfection in TV series finales.  That’s we like to hear.

Of course, that isn’t the way it went, but it certainly could have, as Heat Vision is reporting Kitsch and “Friday Night Lights” series creator, Peter Berg, are re-teaming for a little game of BATTLESHIP.  Kitsch has stepped into the lead role for the Summer, tentpole film, a spot that was, at one time, rumored to be going to THE HURT LOCKER lead, Jeremy Renner.

Kitsch’s fame continues to grow.  He has left the days of “Friday Night Lights” behind him for greener pastures, and he is finding his homestead growing quickly.  In addition to headlining BATTLESHIP, set for release on May 25th, 2012, he’s also topping the JOHN CARTER OF MARS film, also set for a Summer 2012 release.  It’s looking like the young actor is going to be quite the bankable name in years to come.
