Who Wants to See THE LOVELY BONES With The Movie Geeks?

It’s Peter Jackson’s return to the film world after 2005′s KING KONG, and it is hitting St. Louis on January 15th.  However, lucky for you, we have passes to give away for a showing of THE LOVELY BONES three days earlier.

Here’s all you have to do to get one of these, sweet, admit 2 passes, shoot us a comment below telling us what aspect of this movie you are most looking forward to.  Is it Jackson’s directing?  Is it the brilliant visual effects courtesy of Weta?  Is it Stanley Tucci’s performance, which, evidently, is being deemed Oscar worthy?  Let us know you opinions in that little comment section below, and we’ll be picking our favorites for the tickets Sunday night.

Remember, the screening is in the St. Louis area, so don’t enter unless you’re planning on driving in from out of town or you’re one of the lucky ones who lives in this fine city.

And, if you’re not one of the winners, be sure to check out THE LOVELY BONES, which is in limited theaters now and hits wide on January 15th.

I'm most looking forward to seeing how it translates to the screen at all! Admittedly, I first it back in middle school some 8 years ago, but I seem to recall large, dreamlike stretches that I imagine looking cartoonish and silly if not treated creatively on screen. So, I suppose, direction and screenplay authoring would be what I'm looking for the most.

  2. wondering if the visual effects will match some of Jackson's previous films.

  3. Lora Smurphat says:

Can't wait to see this movie and how they tell the story on the big screen with the effects and technology available versus my imagination when reading. This is usually a movie's downfall for me, because I usually see the stories in my mind vividly.

  4. I read The Lovely Bones a year ago. I passed the book around my family and each person seemed enlightened after reading the story. I want to see if the movie matches up to the quality of the book. The vivid imagery is amazing and spell-bounding and if Peter Jackson was able to capture the beautiful innocent voice of Susie Salmon I will be happy. I want to see her transform from a victim to a woman willing to let go and grow. I'm looking forward to the movie being great.

  5. Peter Jackson has such a diverse background in film, everything from Horror and Gore to Epic Fantasy and Blockbusters; everything is on such a grand scale…over the top really. His films have some of the most creative and realistic special effects and I always look forward to the effects. PJ also has the uncanny ability to create an emotional link between his characters and the audience…we always care about what happens to them, which is essentially one of the most important aspects of film-making. The Lovely Bones is such an emotional story… I cannot wait to see how Peter Jackson balances all of this.

  6. For me it's how it is going to translate from book to film. I have faith in Peter Jackson and his film making and his WETA team. Stanley Tucci is a great actor and I see him doing an extraordinary job. Mark Wahlberg is a different story but we'll see, hopefully he won't be socializing with plants or running away from the wind again.

  7. I read the book, so Im interested to see how close the movie is to the book.

  8. I want to see it because I loved the book. The story was powerful and I hope the movie does it justice.

  9. Stinkfistula says:

Because this film will do for Saoirse Ronan what The Basketball Diaries did
    for Leonardo DiCaprio.

  10. I'm looking forward to the secret "find the hobbit" background shots. Just kidding, it looks amazing!

  11. I don't have TV and I can't read, so movies are my only way to escape this dark existence I live. Please help me!

  12. I'm really looking forward to Rose McIvey's performance as Lindsey Salmon, Susie's younger sister. She looks perfect for the part.

  13. Lori Chavez says:

Two things. One…how it is going to translate from book to film. Two…Peter Jackson's visual effects. I am sure it will be a stunning movie.

  14. tom smith says:

i want to see how heaven is portrayed

  15. Stanley Tucci, always a GREAT actor, i want to see his performance, oscar worthy?

  16. I'm looking forward to solving a mystery.

  17. I'd love to see this movie because I'm always interested in how the directors make a great book come to life on the big screen especially with the special effects. Not to mention, I would love to see if there are ANY Oscar worthy performances in the movie period.

  18. I'm most looking forward to how Jackson, an amazing artist, is going to bring his vision of "heaven" or the an in-between world to realization on film. Most other directors would struggle with doing so without a cheesy/hokey interpretation. If anyone can do it, Peter Jackson can!

  19. I’d love to see this film because it looks breathtaking and the story seems compelling and I have not read the book yet so I won’t be disappointed (will probably read the book after)I’m a fan of all the major players and I love great movies!

  20. Im really excited to see it because Mark wahlberg and stanley tucci are really good actors… Wahlberg is very versatile and Peter Jackson didnt go wrong picking him for a role…

  21. i would love to see film because of the story itself. i have an 11 year old daughter -only child-. i hope this movie will make me a better and more cautious parent.

  22. Want to see heaven!! Love Mark W's work also!!

  23. I would love to see this movie because I heard great things about Stanley Tucci!! It should be very entertaining and its a way to be entertained without freezing my buns off! Hope to see ya there!

  24. Leigh Ann says:

I'm excited to see Stanley Tucci and the other actors, including Saoirse Ronan. I just finished re-reading the novel and it's full of interesting characters.

  25. HI, I know the contest is over but I am really needing one ticket. If anyone can't make it or an extra pass becomes available I would really appreciate the chance to tag along with some friends.
Thanks and I hope to see you at the movies. : )

  26. I'm looking forward to seeing how they protray the mother and how she deals with things and the steps of grief. I am also looking forward to the visual effects. I too know the contest is over but would like to be considered in the event there are still tickets available.

  27. Daniel Gardabie says:

I’m looking forward to Stanley Tucci’s performance. I hear it’s Oscar caliber. He was great in “Julie & Julia” and “Big Night” is one of my favorite films. Looking to see if Tucci get his 1st Oscar nomination on Feb 2.

  28. Just want to thank wearemoviegeeks.com for the passes!! I enjoyed the movie, but thought that it ran longer than necessary. For me, the stand out performances were those by Stanley Tucci and Susan Sarandon. I was surprised by how much an effect Sarandon's roll had in the movie – she was the perfect foil.
