Who Wants to See EDGE OF DARKNESS With the Movie Geeks?

If you are anything like us, you miss the days of Mel Gibson kicking tail and completely forgetting about taking the names.  While the days of LETHAL WEAPON are long behind us, we do have a few action-oriented Gibson trips yet to take.  EDGE OF DARKNESS is next up on our list, and we are giving you the chance to see this bad boy a full three days before it debuts.  We have passes to give away to our screening of the film on Tuesday, January 26th at 7:oo PM.

First and foremost, this is a St. Louis screening.  If you will not be in St. Louis on Tuesday, January 26th, do not enter this contest.

All you got to do is leave us a comment in the section below telling us about your favorite action scene featuring Mel Gibson.  It has to be action, so we don’t want to hear about anyone’s love for the scene in WHAT WOMEN WANT where he’s trying on nail polish.  Yeah, I know.  I LOLed at that one pretty hard too.  Just give a brief description of the action scene from a Mel Gibson movie (starring in or directing), and you’ll be entered into the contest.

We’ll be picking the best entries over the weekend and notifying you via email.  And, if you’re not on of the lucky few who get to see this movie early, check out EDGE OF DARKNESS when it hits theaters on January 29th.

My favorite action scene occurred in Mad Max when Mel Gibson gave the villian a choice of either cutting off his leg at the ankle or be blown to bits by a truck about to explode. Talk about a quandary!

  2. Almost any battle scene in Braveheart. All were bloody magnificent. It was hard to watch and hard not to watch as Wallace and his men did battle. I my mind, this and Mad Max are his two best movies, but for action, you can't beat Braveheart.

  3. The whole Mad Max movie was my favorite action scene with Mel Gibson. He was excellent as the drifter with everyone fighting over fuel. The car chase scenes were amazing so for me it would definitely be Mad Max.

  4. All of the action scenes in BRAVEHEART were first rate, especially the Battle of Falkirk.

  5. I loved the final action scenes of The Patriot when Benjamin Martin faced off with Colonel Tavington.

  6. I loved the tomahawk fight scene in the Patiot. He kicked some ass to protect his family in that scene.

  7. My favorite action scene is the battle after the big Freedom speech in Braveheart. It showed how much he cared for his country and its countrymen to be free. He held nothing back in that scene.

  8. In "Lethal Weapon 4" during the opening sequence against the Fire Guy.

  9. My favorite is in Southpark where is is running around in braveheart makeup chasing the boys home on the bus! Classic Gibson!

  10. The Patriot in the tomahawk fight scene. Amazing!~

  11. Remember "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome?" The scene where Max and his opponent battle to the death in the Thunderdome while hooked up to a spring-like device that allows them to spring high into the air while fighting one another. At times, it almost appeared to be an aerial ballet.

  12. nothing beats the patriot, especially at the end when he carries the flag and everyone on the field fights, makes you proud to be an american!

  13. being a teacher, i thought the patriot was a GREAT movie and taught history. as for action, the whole film is great, especiallly the climax

  14. The battle scene in Braveheart where his men want to surrender, but he convinces them to fight.

  15. Brian Michel says:

I have a two-way tie if that counts. One is in the Patriot when Jason Issacs kills his son and he just completely snaps and just butchers (literally) all of those damn red coats with the help of his kids sniping out a few of them. Secondly is just how much of a badass he is in Payback. There isn’t one scene in particular but pretty much the whole movie he kicks ass and doesn’t really care who or what he hurts as long as he gets his money.

  16. I loveeeee Mel Gibson. He is going to be great in this new thriller. Can't wait!

  17. Hard to pick a favorite when you’re a MG junkie. Loved Patriot and Braveheart but also liked his badass attitude in Ransom.

  18. Loved the action during the Thunderdome fight in "MadMax Thunderdome!

  19. Mel Gibson's best action scene is from the film he directed and starred in, Braveheart. The Battle of Stirling Bridge was one of the best action set pieces in the history of film-making. From the Freedom speech to the Cavalry charge, and the ultimate scream of Victory, Gibson solidified his name in the sword and sandal genre, and made his name a legend, next to likes of William Wallace, at least in the film industry.

  20. Not sure if this qualifies as action per se but the scene before his entrails get pulled out at end of Braveheart…. his expression knowing what he would be facing without the benefit of whatever pain killer he had been offered~~ gripping. Also in Payback his expression when he sees his kids face and realizes who he is sitting across from. I guess the actual action bits don't strike as stong as a chord in me :(

  21. At the end of the "Road warrior,' Mad Max and the kid are in the rig and the shotgun shell is on the hood, the kid tries to retrieve it and a hand grabs the boy. All of a sudden the deafening noise becomes real silent and all you can hear is a faint heartbeat as the camera shifts from max to the kid to the guy with the mohawk and suddenly there is a tremerndous crash. Great scene, great film and sound editing.
