Dr. Watson all the way. It's my nickname (and my maiden name is Watson). Really stupid reason, but hey, it's all I've got.
Without a doubt Holmes….simultaneously delightfully whimsical , insidiously
clever and studiously literate…….but it's the darkness , dysfunction and deep
character flaws that round out the man…..a rude brooding dude!!!
I vote Holmes. To be that smart yet that cool was a goal I could never reach.
Watson FTW! Not just because Jude Law is a badass, either. He always kept Holmes grounded in the novels, who would be lost without him.
Holmes, because he makes me feel decidedly unclever.
Absolutely Watson. Not the Watson of so many movies, who is just a pasty fat comedy sidekick, but the Watson of the books. Military officer, combat veteran, cool head in a pinch – and frankly without him Holmes would have killed himself, entirely by accident, very early in his career.
Though I love both Holmes and Watson they are a impeccable duo, I have to go with the Great Mouse Detective.
I would have to pick Holmes strictly because Robert Downey Jr. plays him in the movie.
My favorite has been and always will be Sherlock Holmes, especially as portrayed by Basil Rathbone. He could brood and contemplate in a single glance like no other before or after – before switching to 'the game's afoot' look. I am on the other hand looking forward to the new perspective for Holmes in the new movie.
I gotta go Holmes, in everything I've read he can make a weapon out of anything. It doesn't matter what situation he may be in, he can always find himself a way out of it, not saying Watson isn't awesome and just as important, but he's important in a sidekick way, he's probably the best sidekick ever but Holmes is considered the greatest detective ever.
Sherlock Holmes. He's the hero and the legend. Watson is just a side kick. Trust me . . . Watson would be nothing without Holmes . . . just like Robin would be nothing without Batman!
Why Holmes, of course. He's the smart one. He always has to explain everything to Watson in simple, elementary terms! I don't think Watson could find his way out of a paper bag without Holmes!
Dr. Watson because every hero has a sidekick, and rule one of the hero guide says " the sidekick is your flunkie, use him well". Rule two says " Every great discovery, every brilliant breakthrough by a sidekick should be credited to his/her hero". Rule three says" the Hero gets the girl, the sidekick shall be asexual (see Robin)". So for over a century of being the trusty (and trusting) sidekick, Dr. watson should be shown some love.
Well if Downey is Holmes then I need to be his Watson. If we are talking the real deal, real as in original Sherlock, then I want to be "The Man" himself. Smart, witty, intuitive, and very very clever.
I would have to pick Holmes strictly because Robert Downey Jr. plays him in the movie.
does anyone know if the screening is at ronnies?
The screening is at Ronnies.
I kinda liked the porn star Sherlock Bones
Holmes has been my favorite ever since Data played him in the holodeck in ST:TNG.
Gotta be Watson. The straight man that keeps his buddy on the right track, the foil for his jumps of logic, and you've got to admit that Robert Sean Leonard's portrayal of his counterpart in House is pretty excellent.
I would say Watson. He holds everything together, and is just as important as Holmes (though he's usually the only name ever remembered) for solving the case. I root for the underdog, though he clearly isn't the least favorite in this running.
Holmes: For his intellectual prowess and skillful use of astute observation, deductive reasoning and forensic skills to solve difficult cases. Watson is merely Holmes Assistant and Biographer
"When you have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, however improbable, must be the truth."
HOLMES it is!
Waton is my fav. He's the real brains of the operation anyway.
Watson
They're such a team it's hard to pick, but I'll say Holmes. He's the brains, plain and simple.
Watson…Where would we be without our sidekicks?
I prefer Sherlock Holmes brother Larry, the Easton Assassin.
You guys are going to love this – I found this online Sherlock Holmes game – it's backed by Warner Bros and has been released as a precursor to the movie. It's pretty damn cool and is definitely keeping me occupied while I'm bored at work ;)
