THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA Starts Shooting in June

Thats right all of you people that are DYING for a Captain America movie, Joe Johnston will start shooting in June of 2010. If shooting really does start then they will probably make the May 6, 2011 release date its already been given. Also, the official title of the movie is set to be THE FIRST AVENGER: CAPTAIN AMERICA for all of you that are keeping score.
Who do you think is going to lining up to play Captain America? Id still love to see a Dolph Lundgren capt but that’s just me. Leave us a comment and tell us who YOU think will make a good Captain.
Thanks to /Film for the heads up.

Jon Hamm has my vote all the way. He's the perfect age for the Steve Rogers' they will need for The Avenger's movies (even though he may seem slightly too old for the WWII origin story, I'm certain they can invest in some effects to young him up a little). He looks the part and has the perfect voice to ring out "AVENGERS ASSEMBLE"!
I hear Jensen Ackles' name getting tossed around quite a bit online, but I think he's way more of a nerdcore pick from people that want to incorporate shows they love (Supernatural, Smallville, and Dark Angel) instead of finding someone who's a true fit for the part. He has too much of a babyface and his voice doesn't seem strong enough, in my opinion.
Captain America is close to my heart and I hope they treat him with due respect. Jon Hamm is primed to explode if they give him this role. He's a great actor that could do Captain America/Steve Rogers right.
This movie is the most pivotal in the Avenger's line-up. Captain America is layered in history and tradition. The actor that takes this role on should have a clean public image. I know my picks won't be popular, but my first choice would be wrestler John Cena. He has the physique, the look, the commanding presence, and the voice. His acting has also gotten better, if you've seen 12 Rounds you would agree. I think he would take this role very seriously and not do anything to do it injustice. I would also be ok with Channing Tatum in the role. In GI Joe: The Rise of Cobra, he was a great soldier. I've been looking up casting rumors for some time on this and I have to say, some of the early rumors are disturbing. Will Smith? It's not a racial thing, but Cap needs to be as close to the comic as possible and Steve Rogers just isn't black. Leonardo DiCaprio? I could never stand this guy and it disturbs me that every movie they put him in they try to make him look tough and fail every time. He doesn't even have the stature to play Bucky. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the powers that be don't screw this up.
Give Jensen Ackles some more muscle and a bad ass shield and i think he could pull it off and wouldnt be a bad choice. I just hope they give capt a new fox attitude in regards to costume and such. the shield, tho a trademark of him, is pretty lame looking by todays standards.
Zak… dude… dude?… dude… DUDE!!! Captain America isn't about "pulling it off". Whomever they pick HAS to be a spot on match. Jensen Ackles doesn't have strong enough features to pull off that classic strong-jaw hero and 1940's dapper everyman.
Even yet, considering the movies should focus on him in current day after he's been frozen in the arctic for decades, he should look like he's in his late thirties or so and not late twenties. He has the grizzled and cracked face of an old football veteran that you put in the game because he's the best at what he does and he's capable of leading a team (think Joe Montana/John Elway) to one of the greatest comebacks you'll ever see.
Captain America is like the Frank Sinatra of comic book heroes. He's a classic that you can't tamper with; and anything that isn't 100% legit you can see a mile away. It doesn't matter if you think the shield LOOKS lame, when he whips some serious Nazi and communist ass with it the shield will become sweet (that and the origin of his shield is a cool story in and of itself as well).
Captain America doesn't BECOME cool, he DEFINES it. He needs no personality other than his own and doesn't need to be tampered with to be given some fresh hip new attitude. I don't want a Steve Rogers with a "daddy never hugged me" complex that he needs to sort out for an hour of the film. I want a Captain America that is the Superego of everything right, forget the Id and Ego. I want that shining beacon positivity, leadership, courage, and balls-to-the-wall badass-ness.
Don't give me this "potential to be really dark and interesting" bullcrap. Give me Captain America!!!
i know who should play captain americ…..none other than JEAN CLAUDE VAN DAMME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
