Not everyone has a Blu-ray player in all the locations where they watch movies. Think laptops, desktops, bedrooms, RV's, in-vehicle DVD players, kids rooms, the list is endless.

As for cost, I doubt it costs more than a few cents to add DVD to a Blu-ray.

Given a choice, however, I would rather have a separate DVD than a flipper disk. That way the kids can take a movie upstairs and leave daddy's Blu-Ray disc alone! Besides, the double sided HD-DVD's in my collection have tiny text in the center of the disk that can be very hard to read.

that's really dumb... honestly I just like it when they throw in a digital copy of the movie i can throw on my laptop or iphone. Or like the UP 4 disc version they threw it both the Blu-ray and DVD as well as the digital download, and that was only 35 bucks as Best Buy.
