DVD Giveaway: GLEE Season 1
So, its absolutely no secret that I am in love with GLEE (and Lea Michele) and for that reason alone we are giving you a chance to win a copy of Season 1 on DVD. So if you want to be as addicted as I am, see below for your chance to win.
If you want to be entered to win all you need to do is leave us a comment below and tell us your favorite GLEE character… and why. We will pick the winners at random unless an answer stands out and we cant resist giving you a DVD.
If you aren’t a lucky winner you can still buy it when it hits stores on December 29th 2009!
Rachel. Hands down. As annoying as she can be, she is so innocent and lovable, not to mention beautiful! I can't really buy the whole dorky everybody hates her because she's just so gorgeous to me! Plus her character arc this season was pretty fun to watch.
My favorite character has to be Artie. His soulful voice is in complete opposition with his geeky exterior. His jazzy rendition of "Dancing With Myself" (one of my favorite pop songs EVAR) was simultaneously joyful and sad. It was, in my opinion, one of the most moving and personal performances of the show so far.
Not to mention, he's got some wicked one-liners:
"We plan to smack them down like the hand of God."
Sorry I didn't mean to double post this. It looks like others had the same issue as me…but I'd figure I'd tell you that the Facebook tab thing doesn't work, and posting as well to enter is having problems as well.
Anywho: Kurt is AMAZING! He will truely be the next Rickie Vasquez (My So Called Life), in terms of gay teen characters that are role models.
Glee wouldn't be Glee without Kurt Hummel!!!
Robert's responce is AMAZING! He hits perfectly on why Kurt's character is truely needed and valued on the show. Robert sound's like a teenager in his responce, I assume, so kudos to him for being smart enough to be able to analyze a character like Kurt and define what makes him a person just beyond the fact that Kurt just happens to be gay. Kurt is an amazing gay teen TV character and Chris Colfer excells at playing him.
BTW: Cheers to you Robert! I hope you win the DVD!!!
this is exactly how I feel, it makes me very proud of America's progress to see an openly gay character on such a popular, semi-family oriented show. He does fit the stereotype, but he also is his own person and has a depth to him that breaks the stereotypical gay persona. I can't wait to see his character develop even more, and I hope his character will help promote more understanding to teenagers as well.
This response makes me glad that people see Kurt not just as a sterotype, but as a kid who is dealing with the hazards of being gay. It is good to know people are now coming to a point where they can seperate gay humor from being "funny" to being "cruel".
Good Luck Robert!!!! Your responce is amazing and I'm glad that a teen (I suspect you are younger; your language sounds like you are) can see beyond a TV character's sexuality and into what makes him a person. I hope you win!!! A person who responds to a question on "Which Character is Your Favorite" with an answer like that truely does deserve some sort of award for stating something so bold and deep!!!
I just realized that this posted 4 times and I wanted to apologize for that. Last night I found the contest and couldn't get any of my messages to post at all. So I came back today to post my message again. So, I am very sorry it posted 4 times; I wasn't trying to get my entry in more times then other people or anything. I also think this site has technical issues when posting things as well because I tried logging in several times with my Facebook and other users have their replies duplicated as well.

I like several characters but if I chose 1 it would have to be Finn. His awkward dancing is so entertaining, he looks like an 8 year old dancing at a family reunion. Hilarious!
As mean as Sue is, she is the most original character in the show. She usually has the best lines too.

Great character analysis, Robert! Very thoughtfully presented. I agree with many of the points you've raised, especially about the power of Kurt's character to help gay teens accept themselves (and, dare I hope, even find some acceptance from their peers). I loved the episode when Kurt made the football team, and the scenes between him and his father in that ep and the ep with the "Defying Gravity" solo were beautiful.
I absolutely adore Emma. She is so sweet and vulnerable, yet showed amazing inner strength when she didn't immediately run into Will's arms after she and Ken broke it off. She knew Will needed some time to think about everything, even if giving him that time caused her pain. That gives me more respect for her as a guidance counselor — she practiced what she would've preached to one of her students seeking advice. (Of course, how Will could take so long to figure out she loved him is beyond me — did he not see those adoring looks she's been giving him all season? Especially when he was singing "Young Girl" to Rachel and Emma was supposed to be there as a counselor, and she just sat there enraptured like a teenybopper enthralled by her favorite star. Too cute!) But I'm glad they didn't make us wait 'til spring… when they *finally* kissed, it was so wonderfully romantic! Now if I could only win a DVD, I could watch these wonderful moments again and again… <sigh>

My favorite character would definitely have to be Kurt. I love the different sides to his character. On one hand you have this really flamboyant "look at me, look at me!" performer who dresses in really wild clothes. But on the other you have a teenage boy struggling with the fact that he is gay, is in love with a boy he knows isn't gay and he can never have. He also cares deeply for his father which really touched me, when he threw the note at the end of Defying Gravity, even though he wanted it so badly, to save his father from being harassed, I was in tears. I like that even though Kurt wants to be a star, he doesn't want to hurt the people he cares about to get it. Plus, he is brilliantly funny and has a killer singing voice.
While Growing up theater and music was all around me. Being a vocal talent student in Junior High I knew first hand the trials and tribulations that came with the craft. When I hit high school it turns out the very love for the musical arts that embarrassed me in the past, may have been what saved me. I would have to say my favorite character is Will Schuster. His tender love and care for the children in Glee club mimics the love I once felt from a teacher/ mentor I had in high school. There where a lot of tough times, some involving illegal activities and if it weren't for this teacher I would have ended up in jail. He taught me to love myself, and love what I do, the same things I now teach the autistic children I work with on the weekends. It is such an important lesson that most children in today's world aren't taught. Will Schuster represents my past, and my future, and proves that sometimes all you need is someone who cares. Go Glee!
My favourite character is Kurt. He's sweet and fierce, all at once. While he believes that fashion and good taste always come first, he's got a big heart and cares about the Glee Club and everyone in it.
I am in love with all the characters but i especially love sue.. she is a terrible person but at times she can actually be nice. Every episode she has me laughing and wanting more and more of the show. I can quote every funny comment she has ever said !! i can't wait to see how she comes back to get Mr. Schuester …………………………. And thats how i C it :)
My favorite character is Will Shuster. He is so hot! Sue can just suck it with a S (you can't see me, but I am making an S with my hand like Sue makes her "C"). Will is so Justin Timberlake-esque when he sings, but more dweeby in his teacher roll, which is a total turn on. I hope in season two we get to see Will sing more.
Side note: I had the entire Season on my DVR and we upgraded to the HD package with DishNetwork, well they took my old receiver that had my GLEE episode on it. I was in tears because I lost them all due to the switch. Now I can't re-watch them a million and one times.
That's awful! There should be a couple places you can watch all the episodes streaming online at least.. If not fox.com, try surfthechannel.com.. Thankfully the dvds come out in 10 days!!

Kurt. Loved him from his first audition, as he casually pushed his hair aside without missing a beat during the high note. He's taken a lot of abuse from the jocks but never let it stop him from being himself and dressing fabulously, dumpster or no. It breaks my heart to see the way he pines for Finn. He makes me smile when he motions 'call me' during "Lean On Me".. Loved his Single Ladies dance, the leotard under his football jersey, and his line about his body being like a hot chocolate souflee! He did a phenomenal job standing up to Rachel and Will and knocked Defying Gravity out of the park. It made me cry, because of his selfless act of love to throw the note for his father's sake. (…continued) Sure, he recently showed his 'dark' side when he sabotaged Rachel's makeover, but love makes you do crazy things.. Let's not forget how he stood by Mercedes, or slushied himself to show Finn what real friends are (Get me to a spa, stat!). You can say its confusing how he can be bitchy and endearing before the commercial break, but he makes it work. His sass, his style, and his big heart light up the small screen and I can't wait for him to set more solos next year!
So, do we know when the drawing will be made on the GLEE season one disc?
My favorite character is mr schouster because he really takes the time to understand the kids. And he takes time one on one when he sees a problem. And of course i dont blame him for leaving his wife because that was a horrible thing to do to someone. yes i am a glee fanatic to but no one in my family understands why and they said no because the sho is "gay" but i really disagree it is one of the best shows ever put on television please pick me for a copy.
omg. i started watching glee approximately 48 hours ago. i went through all 13 episodes as quickly as i could, considering i had to set aside some time for sleeping and work. eating was done while i watched. now it was tough to find episodes 1-8 online since fix only has 9-13 on the site, but i found them! i fell in love with this show. just enough drama to get me into it but not over the top. and my love for the music and harmonies and choreography i'm sure is shared by everyone. LOVE it. my favorite character is mercedes i think. i love how she comes in with one of her edgy comments at the most flawless times. and her voice is INCREDIBLE. omgee i want a free dvd. preese.

My favourite character is Finn. I just love his character, he’s not rude or anything he’s a really nice guy. i just felt so bad for him because Quinn is telling him all of these lies. i can’t even relate to how he felt when Rachel told him. :-( i love you finn!!! your voice is great and so is your dancing.
I LOVE GLEE. I can't get it out of my mind! Especially Rachel and Finn, I love the two of them together and when they sing, I get goosebumps (in a good way, though) and I believe I'm not the only one who gets goosebumps because they are just THAT amazing:)! It would really be wonderful to win! Thanks a lot!:)
If forced to pick a favorite character (and it's HARD, believe me!), I would have to say Mr. Schuster. I think the main reason for this is because he can sing inappropriate songs ("Let me see that thong-th-th-th-thong") to a group of high school students and not seem pervly. He is just the cutest thing and his voice makes me swoon!
i like MERCEDES, she did an outstanding job singing the dream girl song. when i first watch the show, i didn't think i would be into it. once i watched it , i was a glee addict, the whole cast is great. emma was oustanding as well. i love her too. MERCEDES would be my favorite!! i would love season one of glee, it's a classic!!
