THE BOOK OF ELI Poster And Denzel’s Perfect Face

I remember reading or hearing something years ago about how Denzel Washington’s face is perfectly symmetrical right down the middle.  I think Brad Pitt was on that list, as well, but only one of them have a poster for a film they are in upon which is that perfectly symmetrical face glaring off in to the distance like they’re about ready to chop someone’s hand off.

Speaking of which, this new poster for THE BOOK OF ELI, courtesy the Trailer Park on Myspace, gives us exactly what we need to pique our interest about the movie.  There’s a gun.  There’s Denzel looking mean (always a good sign).  There are a few, interesting taglines.  And that’s pretty much it.  The mystery of the film remains intact while still getting us psyched for it.  Actually, in this day and age of posters for films like TAKERS (I’m never going to get Paul Walker’s floating head out of my nightmares), it’s good just to have a poster that isn’t loaded with God-awful Photoshop renderings.  Here’s hoping this is the final poster for the film, and one that features all three leads (Washington, Gary Oldman, and Mila Kunis) hovering above a burned-out city never sees the light of day.

THE BOOK OF ELI hits theaters on January 15th, 2010.  Denzel’s perfect face remains an anomaly.
