Teaser Trailer for KICK-ASS may not actually kick ass

One of my most anticipated films of 2010 is without a doubt KICK-ASS, or at least it was until I saw this teaser trailer. I for some reason am not feeling it… AT ALL. Maybe its the music choice but it just doesn’t feel like the comic books feel, to me at least. Lets hope the full length trailer blows me away or I’m going to be a bit more angry about this. Tell me what you think in the comment section after you check out the trailer below:

Ok so the early footage that was leaked a while back looked BETTER but I'm sick of trailers giving all the good stuff . This does give off a PG-13 kind of vibe which I'm not diggin'. I've not read the source material but the leaked stuff looked more R than the trailer. Perhaps it looks more childish in the trailer… I remember thinking the same thing for Pan's Labyrinth and Bridge to Terabithia. They looked like fantasy driven, Chronicles of Narnia type movies… When both of them deal quite deeply with death and sadness. SO, as long as the Kick-Ass trailer ends with the words this film is rated R… I'll be happy.
looks awesome. sad its a greenband trailer. when a redband trailer hits we'll get to see the real magic of this movie!
I truly blame it on being greenband. If you re-read the very first issue, the opening sequence in the comic is practically the same in the trailer which is nice to see. So long as it gets a wonderful R rating then there shouldn't be a problem, but I would chalk this one up to trying to get mass appeal versus keeping the trailer in the appropriate mood.
It's a trailer. Lure the people that are not-in-the know and wow them with the film. That is the vibe I get from this. I think the film will still speak for itself and it still remains on my "Can't Wait" list.
It's a greenband trailer, not RedBand. I have a feeling that Lionsgate is still trying to figure out how to market the film.
Giving up the good stuff? Not really, there's tons more to see. I can't wait for this. It's going to be hilariously twisted.
Here's WHY the trailer isn't showing all that much. The movie knows what's going to happen in the comics before the comics do. That's right, the movie is actually surpassing the story of the comics before it's finished being released.
For this reason they're keeping A LOT of the footage from the movie out of the trailers because it could be a spoiler for not only the movie, but the comics it's based on.
I've seen the Comic-Con footage and it was spot on but the movie is so violent that there's VERY little you could actually put in the trailer. It's laden with curses and violence so if a trailer that truly represents the film is going to come out, it'll have to be red band.
I completely agree with you Kent. And if you watch the trailer again, you can tell that pretty much all of the footage comes from the first 4 issues of the comic (mostly the first 3 except for the brief second we see Hit Girl and Big Daddy). I'm still waiting for issue 8, damn it!
