Mark Wahlberg has signed up to star in the remake to the Icelandic thriller, ‘Reykjavik-Rotterdam.’  As reported by  The Hollywood Reporter, the film is to be scripted by the upcoming ‘Prisoners’ scribe, Aaron Guzikowski, with Baltasar Kormakur, the actor and producer of the original film, set to direct.

The film centers on a security guard and former alcohol smuggler stationed on the Iceland-Netherlands route who is brought back into the smuggling game by a friend after he falls on hard times.  The original ‘Reykjavik-Rotterdam’ is Iceland’s entry into this year’s Oscar competition for Best Foreign Language Film.

According to the filmmakers, the remake will likely relocate, hence a name change to come, as well.
