Sly, Arnie, and Bruno Together Again for EXPENDABLES

THE EXPENDABLES long surpassed that point where it became every, 80s geek boy’s dream.  Once Stallone signed up stars like Dolph and Mickey Rourke to flex muscles next to Jason Satham, Jet Li, and even “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, it became one of those dream projects that you keep checking in on just to make sure everything’s all right.  To that, it became like a nervous babysitter checking on the kids too many times, because those kids are just so damned precious.

The rumors began a few months back, and it seemed like one more “too good to be true” moments.  However, it was confirmed yesterday via the film’s official blog that Stallone,Schwarzenegger, and Bruce Willis had shot a scene for the film over the weekend.  Now, before you get your action-lover’s appetite too built up, this scene doesn’t sound like it’s filled with things that go boom.  Instead, it’s a simple scene set at a church that sets up the whole movie.

As the writer on the blog states, the moment was “atomic”.

Here is an excerpt:

The whole crew was mesmerized as we watched the three of them play off of each other in a pivotal scene that sets up the whole movie.  And while I can’t/don’t want to give too much away I can tell you that Arnold’s character is Trench and Bruce is Church, the scene was shot in an empty church without extras and minimal set dec and it has tension and humor…

Who knows, if THE EXPENDABLES becomes this massive, runaway train hit that a lot of us are expecting, this holy trinity of action stars could come back together for a full-blown, ass-kicking feature film.  A lover of ’80s action can dream, can’t he?

THE EXPENDABLES is set to release on August 20th, 2010.

PS – I say “again” in the headline as a reference back to the Planet Hollywood venture.  Don’t go busting your brain trying to find any previous movie where these three have shared screen time before this.
