‘Paranormal Activity’ Expanding This Weekend

paranormal_activity

If you aren’t in, or within sufficient driving distance, to one of the 33 cities that hosted midnight screening of ‘Paranormal Activity’ this past weekend, you may not have to wait much longer to get the pants scared off you.   Thanks to the word of mouth that drove every showing on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to sell out, Paramount Pictures has decided to give the film a wider release beginning this weekend, October 9th.   The film, which earned $16,000 per screen and $535,000 total, will be playing in 40 markets with showing happening throughout the day, not just at midnight.   Thanks can also go to everyone who registered and “demanded” the film over at Eventful.

You can check out our boy, Nick’s, review of the film right here.   As someone lucky enough to check out one of these midnight shows, I can safely say that the film is truly terrifying.   The same air of suspense and overbearing terror that filled the final ten minutes of ‘The Blair Witch Project’ can be found throughout the entirety of ‘Paranormal Activity.’   If you are a horror fan who hasn’t been scared for quite a while, do yourself a favor and check out this film as soon as you can.   I guarantee, after seeing it, you will begin hearing strange noises in your house, and you will have more than a little difficulty sleeping comfortably for the next couple of days.

You can check out the film’s official website right here.

  1. This was a great, genuinely creepy movie! Far more effective on the realistic heebie-jeebies factor than Blair Witch. One scene specifically had me truly freaked, and that was when… ah ah ah, caught myself! For those who have seen the film, its the scene that is by far the most difficult to explain how it was done. Think of an ankle as a handle…

  2. Tom Stockman says:

Does this open Friday in St. Louis!?!?! I gots to know!
