One of my favorite Halloween movies is Scream.
my favorite halloween movie of all time is the Original John Carpenter Halloween! It still gives me chills and I absolutely LOVE Michael Myers!!! Every year I can't wait until October!!!!
My favorite Halloween movie is now Trick 'R Treat-and my favorite scenes are when the kids are walking through the fields on their way to the quarry-it just FEELS like Halloween! Anytime you are feeling nostalgic for the holiday you could watch this film to enjoy that candy corn joy again.
My favorite movie to watch around Halloween is The Faculty (campy meets creepy). As for movies actually Halloween themed, I love Halloweentown (the disney channel original movie – it's a classic)
Of the films that take place during Halloween, nothing can beat out E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. But if I could choose any movie to cozy up to come the 31st, nothing will beat out an Evil Dead-athon, starting out with the first and ending with Army of Darkness by midnight. I know it has nothing to do with Halloween but who doesn't love Bruce Campbell kicking ass with a chainsaw?
Super pumped for Trick R Treat though, excited for another great slasher to find its place among the classics.
My favorite movie to watch this season used to be "Popcorn," a great horror film from 1991 about a disfigured killer stalking kids at a small-town indie theatre during an all-night horror movie marathon, but I have to say it has been replaced by "Trick 'R Treat." There are so many incredible moments in this film, but my favorite has to be the scene between the principal and his son in the basement – tense as hell, with a totally great twist reveal. And the line "Charlie Brown is an asshole!" is CLASSIC!!
If I have to choose a favorite Halloween themed flick, I have to go with Ernest Scared Stupid. I just love that movie too damn much. Cannot wait to see this flick.
My fave movie is The Shining. Scared me to death as a kid. But I can't wait to see this new thriller
The original John Carpenter Halloween is the all-time best Halloween-themed movie. 'Nuff said.
John Carpenter's Halloween is still the king.
My Favorite Halloween Movie is Saw, no not Saw 17, the original 1 or 2 movies, mainly because i love the Psychology of it, and nothings fake about it…..
My fave is The Nightmare Before Christmas of course, it never gets olds watch it every Halloween. Sure it's a kids movie and it's not scary, but ya gotta love it.
SPOILER!!
my favorite part of Trick 'r Treat is when the principle guy is trying to bury a body and his son keeps popping out the window and yelling for him to help him with the eyes of the "jack 'o latern"…classic
my favorite moment in the movie was probably the scene where the kids visited Catwoman's house. I loved it when she started shaking her tail in their faces, and when she offered them alcohol and that Sara kid enthusiastically responded "SURE!!!!!" I thought that was a very funny scene in what is easily the best Halloween themed movie since John Carpenter's immortal classic "Halloween".
Monster House! It's scary AND funny! It has a special place in my heart because Chowder, the dopey yet adorable scaredy-cat turned hero, reminds me of my son. He's a total spaz that makes you laugh. In the end, he overcomes his fears and helps his friends save the day. The graphics on the movie are awesome and it's spooky enough for the whole family but not so scary the kids can't see it.
Halloween is, was and will be the ultimate Halloween-themed film. Nothing quite stacks up to the original. Having said that I have been excitedto see Trick r’ Treat for some time. Glad it will be on DVD. Shame it wasn’t released theatrically.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy. I absolutely have have to watch The Shining every October followed by The Simpson's Tree House of Horror V. It's a family tradition.
Sleepy Hollow is one of the best. I could watch it over and over again.
I'd confidently say The Nightmare Before Christmas is my favorite Halloween themed movie.
Not only is Tim Burton's film a total classic, but it's the perfect combination of comedy, horror and creativity. It was such a monumental film… I remember going to see it in theatres with my Mom when I was a kid. I wasn't terrified, I was mystified. It was so captivating. Since then, it's become somewhat of a cult classic… with merchandise in such notable stores as Hot Topic (*gag*). Which truly just goes to show how versatile of a film it is. It's something I watch every Halloween as well as Christmas, and you should too.
ALSO, I can't wait to see Trick 'r Treat! Many reputable sources are calling it the best Halloween film of all time. I'll just have to see for myself! Thanks so much for the opportunity, Movie Geeks!
my favorite movie is the exorcist it is the most scary movie of all time and it could really happen to you i loved it that was a classical scary movie
My favorite scary movie is Hocus Pocus…Bette Midler and Sarah Jessica Parker on the same screen…There is no scarier moment in movie history. And that amazing taking cat…need I say more?
The best moment of the movie is easily the entire scene with the fat kid from Bad Santa. I don't want to spoil anything for those who haven't seen it, but the ending to his story was awesome.
I can't let an October go by without watching three things: Sleepy Hollow, Halloween 3, and The Worst Witch, the latter of which contains what is without a doubt the best Halloween-themed music video ever made. And by best, of course, I mean worst: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PUhuPn8_d0Q
Best Halloween-themed film? Has to be Nightmare Before Christmas, if only because it's the only movie that's captured the spirit of the holiday entirely — keep in mind, I haven't seen Trick 'R Treat yet! Favorite horror movie, though? Has to be the one-two punch of Evil Dead II and The Thing. One is more fun than your average person can stand (while still being spooky throughout), the other is the epitome of gloom and doom horror like only Carpenter can achieve.
I would have to say John Carpenter's The Fog is a scary Halloween story best seen/told around a campfire. . . .
My favourite Horror film has to be Scream. Brought along some new ideas to the horror genre + I love the whole “do you like scary movies” line. A classic!
mine is nightmare before christmas – i know its not scary but its a great movie that everyone can enjoy
“Idle Hands” has to be one of my favorite Ashlynn Brooke movies!
Oooo, I would say "Sleepy Hollow" with Johnny Depp and Christina Ricci would be one of my favorite Halloween movies. Watching Christopher Walken as the Headless Horseman and seeing the story unfold about how he became the Horseman – wow. It just has that great Halloween creepy feeling to it, without being over-the-top like some have tried to do.
My favorite is the original "Halloween." I saw it the first time when I was about 14, and it made me scream out loud when the dead body swung out of the closet! It became the Holy Grail of scary movies for me – the way I want to be terrified and exhilarated at the same time while watching one. I'm hoping "Trick R Treat" is like that for me!
I’m going to go with Wendy here and say MONSTER HOUSE is one of the based Halloween movies ever. It’s also one of the first I watch every year at the beginning of October. It’s the perfect movie to show a child who is around the age of five because it’ll mess with them just enough so that it’s permanently tattooed in their young super absorbing brains and they’ll remember that for the rest of their lives!
…instead of trying to be different I am going to be honest and say the original HALLOWEEN is "the" Hallowe'en movie (and the only HALLOWEEN movie for me); how can I answer anything else? THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS is a holiday favourite you can't dispute, but in my feeling it works equally well as a Christmastime movie. CREEPSHOW is a fine film to flicker on a Halloween night (it even opens on a jack o' lantern…
I (very unfortunately) have not had the opportunity to see Trick r Treat yet, but my favorite Halloween-themed film is John Carpenter's Halloween (which also happens to be my favorite movie in general). It's what I consider the perfect horror film.
my fave Halloween movie is Halloween (I havent seen trick r treat yet) its freaky and scary and funny and real. Its all the things I like in a Halloween movie.
I love the original Halloween movie….nothing scares me more than the theme song. : / everytime I hear it, I cringe. It's a great movie to get in the Halloween spirit, along with making you scared shi*less beforehand. I would love to see this movie too. If you enjoyed it, I'm sure I will too!
By far, my favorite is "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", You go see a movie and a party breaks out. I used to love hanging out in the loop with about 200 people dressed up and singing.
SAW – the first one obviously
My favorite Halloween themed flick (well, aside from the original Halloween, natch) is actually Hocus Pocus. No, I don't know why exactly, but i just love it!!
I watched "Trick 'r Treat" yesterday. I just KNEW Sam was in my house last night. I was scared to enter any dark rooms. But, I am still here…wait….I hear something….AAAAAHHHH!!!!!
It's kinda cliche, but I'm going to go with John Carpenter's HALLOWEEN. It has simply yet to be topped.
I have not seen Trick 'r Treat yet (hopefully today or next week sometime), so my favorite moment in a Halloween themed film would have to be in the original Halloween, when Myers steps out from behind those bushes for the first time. Just the sight of him creeps you out, and gives you a lifelong fear of shrubbery.
I haven't seen "Trick 'r Treat", so my other favorite Halloween moment is the fact that I can still watch the original "Halloween" and get the willies. Forget that I have seen it dozens of times, that I am a married, 38-year-old, father of three. I still get creeped out by Michael Myers.
if it's gotta be Halloween themed then Devon Sawa's pot laced/parent killing IDLE HANDS. Seth Green as a Zombie, a near naked Jessica Alba, a crazed Vivica Fox as a Bounty Hunter for God, a bong made out of a car muffler, I mean what more could you ask for? And a Soundtrack by The Offspring, when people actaully thought it was cool. Definitely appreciate the nods to the EVIL DEAD franchise with special effects too. Completely underappreciated for mainstream October 31st viewing.
Can't wait to see TRICK 'R TREAT. I saw the Director's Panel with Dylan Baker at Weekend of Horrors. It was ultra slick. Hope I win. Free is my favorite four letter word.
I’m gonna have to say that my favorite is a tie between ’1408′ and ‘Jeepers Creepers’
I've been hearing alot about this one and really am looking forward to seeing it! I also enjoy the original Halloween.
Okay, don;t shoot me, but I love Halloween III!
Halloween night was a really good one……… and My favorite part in trick-r-treat was Dad showing his son how to carve the pumpkin. awsome
The original Halloween is my favorite Halloween movie. Too scary!
My favorite scene in Trick R Treat is definately with the principal and the fat kid from Bad Santa sitting on the porch! Outstanding. That and Sam going flying across the kitchen floor into the cabinet at the old man's house
OK now I know this is corny…but what about Hocus Pocus. I mean, you get to watch sarah jessica parker tramp it up and bette midler doesnt even need to where a costume (he he), how much better can it get?
