You're all a bunch of retards and morons.

I went to Avatar day -- skeptical -- and had my mind blown. The 3D was immersive on a whole new level -- the FX translate much better to 3D than they do to 2D. The look of everything is incredibly consistent and the detail is breathtaking.

The sense of depth is truly thrilling -- 3D is nothing new, but the way he's using it to heighten and enhance the *emotional depth* is. There was one scene where the Jake Na'vi character is wrestling this winged creature on the precipice of a cliff and the camera slowly raises up and over them -- you felt like you were going to PLUNGE INTO THE SCREEN (!). I've seen all the 3D crap and nothing comes close to this.

2.5 hours of this will turn your brain to mush. You will stumble out of the theater in a daze. Your brain will throb from being worked over so intensely. This isn't something you will sleep through like 99% of the crap that passes for entertainment in theaters right now.

This isn't some tacky Robert Zemeckis 3D film with people throwing bones at you (a la Beowulf). This is full-scale insanity.

The ending of the film will win 75% of everyone over: the romantic / emotional stuff for half the audience, incredible jaw-dropping a**-kickery for the other half.

Like Titanic, 25% of people will hate the movie no matter how it turns out because of their Cameron Jealousy and/or you're just hopelessly jaded, or fat, or never get off your couch and disconnect from your Xbox/PS3/Wii.

I was one of the people that got to go see the 20 or so minutes of Avatar at the free screening on Avatar Day. I truly didn't find anything Earth shattering about it, except the hype surrounding it. Mostly my mind was whirrling on how it could take 14 years, $250-300 million dollars and alot of other wasted things to be put into such a film. The entire audience I saw it with was talking about it all. Most talked about how the aliens sort of resembled Jar Jar Binks from Star Wars because of body style and huge feet. Well they had a point., a also worthlesss plot etc., so many other complaints. One woman especially complained that now all theatres will raise the prices to see movies because of this da** thing. She said alot of thought for economics was placed into this one. God bless her, she's right. Valid complaints, so are yours. So, I agree with you. I won't see it either, I don't feel it is worth the time after what I already saw. 20 minutes was enough for me. Take care Larry.

Saw the new trailer and can't understand why they made an even blander trailer. Cameron has to understand that people have more captivating storylines on world of warcraft and games than what he puts forth in avatar. People now are also making their own moives. I've been more captivated by the world of warcraft trailers that are amazing. Blizzard should be making full length animated movies like their trailers. Anyway, I don't think Cameron realizes how far media has come and that people like me won't bother seeing Avatar just to see a new form of 3D. He can hold a free technology expo and show footage, but he doesn't need to make a movie just to show new technology. Nobody in real life ever chooses to help the environment, and I find the plot of avatar laughable. Whatever message he's trying to get across is something that he should be doing some soul-searching over, he's done more destruction with the production of his movies than most towns will ever do.
