‘Highlander’ Remake Gets Its Director

If you’re a die-hard fan of the past, two ‘Fast & Furious’ movies and you’ve just been on the edge of your futon waiting to see who was selected to helm the ‘Highlander’ remake, this is a red-letter day for your fandom.   Justin Lin, who also helmed ‘Annapolis’ and ‘Better Luck Tomorrow’ has officially signed on to direct the remake which will also be produced by Neal Moritz.

Surprisingly, this bit of news was hinted at over at Movie Make-Out at the beginning of this month.   At that time, it was only considered a rumor, but that is where the first inklings that Lin was stepping into the role came about.

The new film looks to expand on the ‘Highlander’ mythology, and Summit Entertainment hopes a new franchise will be spinning from it.

Patirck Wachsberger, co-chairman of Summit, had this to say about the new film:

We are privileged to have this amazing opportunity to reinvent one of the great franchises.   Neal and Justin have proven more than once that they can deliver an entertaining and exciting blockbuster

The screenplay for the ‘Highlander’ remake is being written by Art Marcum and Matt Holloway, who most recently wrote the screenplay for ‘Iron Man.’
