Aronofsky Taking on Heist Pic

Darren Aronofsky has signed on to direct an indie heist thriller for XYZ Films and Time Inc. Studios.  At least the guy is still working, right?  This news comes just a few, short months after MGM reps at the San Diego Comic Con were giving the “neither confirm nor deny” spiel about Aronofsky still being attached to the ‘Robocop’ remake in any sense.  This news also comes amidst casting and pre-production work on Aronofsky’s passion project, ‘Black Swan.’

According to Variety, the heist pic will surround the true story of the 2006 theft of $85 million.  The people involved in what would be known as the largest cash robbery in Britain took the manager of a depot and his family hostage and threatened to kill them if the manager didn’t help them get into the compound.  Kerry Williamson (‘Fork in the Road’) is set to pen the screenplay.

Protozoa Pictures is also on board as producers.
