That is Not, I Repeat, NOT, Cobra Commander In the New ‘G.I. Joe’ International Trailer

One of the main controversies coming out of ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra,’ other than whether or not the movie is even going to be worth a damn, is what the new Cobra Commander will look like.  There have been debates upon debates about this.  In the past week, it even seems evident that people are being fooled into believing they’ve actually seen him.  The international trailer for the film has been released this week, and some are making the claim that the main villain of the film makes a cameo appearance in the trailer.

Websites all over Al Gore’s Interwebs are telling us that this image you see above is of Cobra Commander.  The one on our left, not the other guy.  The other guy is Christopher Eccleston who is playing the silver head-less Destro.  No, it’s the other guy, the one who looks like Darth Vader prepping for a haircut, that people are claiming is the mysterious new look for Cobra Commander.

The one question I have to all of those sites is “Why are you assuming this is Cobra Commander?”  Nothing in the trailer indicates this is the main villain of the film to be played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. In fact, there is evidence out there indicating that the person in the still above is a different character entirely.  There are images galore out there of a villain in the new ‘G.I. Joe’ film called “The Doctor.”

All of these images are said to be of a character from the film known only as The Doctor.  That file card indicates that this could, actually, be Dr. Mindbender, but there is absolutely no indication anywhere that this is Cobra Commander.

Even if there is an extremely slim chance this is, in fact, Cobra Commander, then I give Paramount mad props for having images of him out there for all these months without anyone picking up on it.  Some sites are claiming the image from the international trailer is the “first official” pic of Cobra Commander from the film.  Whatever the case may be, that statement certainly is not true.

In fact, the images of the action figure of Cobra Commander that we have, actually, seen, look nothing like this.  Granted, the images below are all off of the toy line coming out in conjunction with the film.  However, the images of Cobra Commander on these action figures look absolutely nothing like the image of the supposed “Cobra Commander” seen in the international trailer.

So, just for the record, you do NOT see Cobra Commander in the new, international trailer of ‘G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra.’  Despite reports to the contrary on countless websites out there, that international trailer doesn’t show us anything we haven’t already seen a hundred, different places already.  In all likelihood, that is Dr. Mindbender seen standing next to Destro.  If the pictures above offer up any evidence in support of one theory, it is that we have still not seen what Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s getup will look like in the new blockbuster.
