Justin Timerblake possibly suiting up for Green Lantern?

Apparently, as THR is reporting, Justin Timberlake in one of three actors being considered for the role of Green Lantern. Timberlake has been suiting up for screen tests to show WB what he’s got. We get this from THR:

This week, the race narrowed to Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake. The clock is ticking on the decision as the holding deal the studio had on the actors expired Monday, meaning the three are now free to accept other offers.

The studio ordered up two rounds of screen tests with Cooper, Reynolds and Timberlake. Other actors in the early mix included Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Jared Leto.

Apparently, De Line, Campbell and the studio each had a different favorite among the three finalists, making it difficult to come to a consensus.

Another issue impacting the casting process is the rising budget. “Lantern” is a full-blown space epic that is expected to cost between $150 million and $200 million, if not more. Warners would like to have the production costs at a reasonable level before proceeding.

That is pretty interesting, I don’t see Reynolds getting it because of his Deadpool role, but the fact that Timberlake is in such company is pretty impressive. His acting resume isn’t exactly chalked full of what anyone would consider comparable roles, or even really outstanding acting but who knows maybe he could dawn the suit, and the ring?

  1. This is a terrible idea. I'm not really a big fan of any of the three choices. I agree that Reynolds is the least likely because of his involvement in Deadpool. Not hip on Bradley Cooper as Green Lantern either (although he is awesome otherwise) but, he is more acceptable than Timberlake. Nothign personal Justin, I just do NOT see you as Green Lantern!

  2. There were rumors awhile ago that Ryan Reynolds was going to be the Flash in the rumored Justice League movie, but we see where that is now. Now that he is contracted with Marvel they will not allow him to play any DC role and I am very surprised he was able to screen test for this.

I don't know how I feel about Bradley Cooper yet.

Timberlake's acting is kind of like the Star Trek movies. Every other movie is good so he can be hit or miss. I also see this casting choice as a way to draw female's into theaters to see this movie just so they can see Timberlake in tight spandex.

Only time will really tell, but look for it to be between Cooper and Timberlake.

UGH NO! I hope Cooper wons. He has the look more thean JT.

  4. I'm pulling for Bradley Cooper on this. Ryan Reynolds is pretty much out, because I can't see him doing two, comic book movies at the same time. Timberlake, I'm sure, would jump at the chance, but his name is too familiar in other realms of entertainment. I just don't see WB going with him. Cooper is right at the cusp of being a household name, he's a helluvan actor, and he definitely has the look.

  5. I thought long ago, that George Eads (the guy that plays Nick Stokes on CSI Vegas) was supposed to play the GL. And he'd still make a better one that any of these guys. Ryan Reynolds is awesome, but he's not a GL. He is definitely more of a Flash or Green Arrow. George Eads, ppl!! George Eads!!

  6. Bradley Cooper all the way unless you can go back in time to get a 30 year old Dennis Quaid (You can't).

  7. You have to be joking? Justin Timberlake as the Green Lantern. Say it ain't so. Timberlake is good at making stupid juvenile comedy sketches, but he can't act at all. If these really are the finalists for the role,
I guess you can say good bye to Hal Jordan. If Timberlake lands this film, it won't be Hal Jordan and it'll a Guy Gardner Green Lantern.
