‘Cosmopolis’ Up for Cronenberg Next

david cronenberg

David Cronenberg has signed on to direct an adaptation of Don DeLillo’s novel ‘Cosmopolis’ to the big screen.   The film will tell the story of a 28-year-old multi-billionaire who ventures across Manhattan in order to get a haircut.   It would be a pretty boring story if he made it without obstruction, so the protagonist runs into everything from traffic jams caused by a presidential visit, a funeral procession for a rap artist, and a full-fledged riot.

‘Cosmopolis’ will be an interesting change of pace for Cronenberg who has never directed a comedy in his career.   You might want to count ‘eXistenZ,’ but you’d be wrong.

The film begins shooting next year in New York and Toronto.
