Character Cage Match: Dumbledore vs. Gandalf
Welcome, fans, to this special edition of WAMG’s Character Cage Match. With the release of ‘Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince’ we decided to pit the two Best Movie Wizards against each other in a magical duel of wits, wisdom and wizardry in an attempt to determine, once and for all, who is the most formidable of them all. To make things even more interesting, let’s pit the fans against each other as well. Those of you who consider yourselves Ringers, devout followers of Lord of the Rings, support your wizard! Those of you who fanatically know every fact and detail in the Harry Potter Universe, support your wizard! Let it be known, here and now, who is the greatest wizard of all!

So, we have the basic break-down of these two contestants. Consider it, ponder it and then conjure up your decision and post comments below letting everyone know where you stand on who will prevail in this magical duel to the death. NOT FAIR! I love em both!!!!! Ugh, in terms of actually seeing them do stuff I'd have to give it to Dumbledore, simply because he pulls off some cool stuff in the books and movies, while Gandalf was more the sagely guide who could kick ass if necessary. But in terms of sheer power I may have to say Gandalf. Though his power seems to be more visionary and prophetic, he always seems to know everything that will put people in the right place at the right time. Dumbledore does as well, but he likes to let the children figure it out, because all though alot is at stake, he knows it's not his destiny to truly change things but Harry's. Gandalf plays a more hands on role, journeying with the fellowship first and then having his own trials, and finaly becoming a general of sorts in the Battle of Peleonr fields. I'm sorry this one's a toss up for me.
As someone who is completely biased, I can say with ease that Gandalf would destroy Dumbledore. Dude's epic.
I am going with Dumbledore, but I also think you guys have your fan support mixed up.
yeah I noticed that too. LoL.
If I went with what he could have performed, after seeing what Saruman was able to do I'd have to say Gandalf, but he was less about using his powers outright, than letting the fellowship do what needed to be done with his help and support. But like I said Dumbledore has done more outright cool stuff with magic.

I love them both but strictly based on the movies I have to go with Dumbledore. Look at his display of magic in Order of the Phoenix and in Half Blood Prince…..awesome! But I guess if it was hand to hand combat Gandalf is a badass with the sword.
Yes but Dumbledore comes back also, in his own way. Kinda like Obi-Wan in V and VI.
I have to say Dumbledore but I might be biased because I adore the gay community.
Oh, Dumbledore. He's just kick ass. I mean, in HBP when he's in the cave and finds all the Horcrus shit by just walking around. He knows his stuff, and when he does that fire shit to the Inferi. And in OTP, when he fights Voldemort, that's brillant. And if you read the books, he's so smart, and was the best wizard, ever? Plus, he beat the Elder Wand, when it was deemed unbeatable.
There is a lot more to dumbledore than he lets anyone know, and he is far more powerful than Gandalf. As another user here stated, Gandalf, though he can use magic, is more of a wise sage. Dumbledore had a lot of skeletons in his closet and was once nearly as bad as grindelwald, his best friend turned dark wizard, whom he defeated. Sure, Gandalf was much older and was more hands on with the people he helped, but Dumbledore was wiser because he let people play our their destinies themselves instead of just handing everything to them. Overall, Dumbledore is the wiser and more powerful wizard.
You people are so ridiculous! Look at the facts… sure Dumbledore was both a couselor like Gandalf but they both great wizards. Leave this arguement behind and take it upon yourselves to appreciate these great wizards.
I don’t know much about LOTR, but I do have trouble choosing them. I’ll say Dumbledore, though, just because I don’t know anything about Gandalf. I mean, Dubledore’s the BEST PYRO EVER! HE CAN PUT THE WATER… ON F-I-Y-A-H! :( Why can’t I put the water on fire :(?
