‘Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen’ brought in $16 million on Tuesday Night/Wednesday Morning midnight shows and did $44.2 million last night for a current combine total of $71 million in 2 days $55 Million. The midnight shows were 2nd only to ‘The Dark Knight,’ and, if Wednesday number are correct, it will be the biggest Wednesday opening ever.

We get this from THR about the Midnight Screenings:

“Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen” stormed about 3,000 locations Tuesday night, and the first midnight screenings of Michael Bay’s action sequel captured a mighty $16 million.

It puts the Paramount release in impressive company: While “The Dark Knight” holds the record for midnight grossers, having picked up $18.5 million in 2008, the “Transformers” number approaches that of Fox’s “Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith,” which grossed $16.9 million in 2005. “Transformers” can boast the biggest midnight gross for a movie opening on a Wednesday.

…and we get this about the Wednesday opening from The Examiner:

When the official full day of runs started on over 4,200 screens yesterday for the famed franchise, it pulled in an overall gross of $55 million for best Wednesday premiere ever ahead of the aforementioned “Order of the Phoenix”, which had a total of $44.2 million on its Wednesday business.

All of this money for a movie that none of us feel only 1 of our geeks feel is worth it at all.   I guess when it comes to Michael Bay the old “LOUD NOISES” approach works better than negative critic reviews.

As Michael Bay gives all the nay-saying critics the proverbial middle finger…Didn't you see it during the last half hour of the movie?? LOL

    He said today:
"The 400 critics around the globe spoke. Then fans around the world spoke.

Transformers made $60.6 million dollars in the United States for a total of around $100 million from the world on opening day! One of the biggest single days in movie history.

Then never seem to understand that I make movies for people to take a ride and escape.

To all the Transformer Fans – Thank You

    Michael"

"All of this money for a movie that none of us feel is worth it". None of us? Personally this geek loved it. It was a loud, summer spectacle with a plethora of Transformers…no one but Bay has so many explosions in one film!

  3. I fully understand Bay makes movies for people to take a ride and escape. I wanted to do just that. I tried to do just that. Bay failed to even entertain me this time around. We'll see how the percentage drop off goes. You knew this film's opening was going to be huge. 400 critics couldn't put a dent in that.

  4. It would have been one thing if I got to escape, but I couldnt. I even tried, I got up to leave every 15 minutes then they showed Megan Fox and I sat back down..
