Nice list. I completely agree with what you said about Sin Nombre. Friggin' amazing!
I really want to watch Moon but it's not playing here in Houston for a while. :(

I think that "Sin Nombre " is the most powerful film on this list. I hope that the Oscar voters remember this film in January. The voters seems to forget the films that are released early in the year. I also loved "Public Enemies". Michael Mann is as solid as ever. And I hope they show some love for "The Hangover", which i doubt because they avoid the darker and hip films (see Pulp Fiction}.

'Knowing' is fairly high on my overall 2009 list, but didn't quite make my top 10. I'd probably put it somewhere around 12-15. I had a couple of choices that would have made this list, but they weren't "out" yet… '(500) Days of Summer', for example.

We agreed that the movies on this list had to have already been officially released. 500 Days of Summer doesn't come out until July 17th. Trust me, though, it would have been on this list, as those of us who have seen it at fests this year have fallen in love with it. Check back at the end of the year for our Best of 2009 list. I'm sure it will be there.
