Fantasy Cast: Who Should Play Luther in ‘The Warriors’ Remake

Tony Scott is the planned director for the remake of ‘The Warriors.’ To be set in LA, the film still looks to have the same, basic concept of the ’79 original. A group of 10 gang members must get from one point to the other, while all the other gangs in the city are attempting to take them out.
The main villain of the ’79 film was Luther, played with devilish care by David Patrick Kelly.

And who can forget this standout moment of the film:
Who the hell can fill that man’s shoes? Well, that is the question we submit to you on today’s edition of Fantasy Cast. Who should play Luther in the remake of ‘The Warriors’? The character, without a doubt, should be carried over to the remake, but the real question is who could possibly top or even match David Patrick Kelly’s original take?
James from Gordon and the Whale says the role should go to Sean Penn:

He’s got the chops, both acting-wise and chin-wise. He’s definitely a name that could be attached to the film. Of course, James snickered right after he mentioned this choice, and the general thought is there is no way in hell Penn would “lower” himself to play the villain of a ‘Warriors’ remake.
Who do you think? Shoot us a comment below with your choice or choices on who should play Luther in ‘The Warriors’ remake. Should Tony Scott try to get a David Patrick Kelly type or should the character be taken in a completely new direction? Let us know your thoughts.

I think Sean Penn is too old for the role. He probably could have pulled it off back in the day. Edward Norton, maybe? Someone in that vein.
bradley cooper could do it
Ben Foster is a great psycho, but has he been too many psychos already?
Ryan Gosling should be on the list…
Find a way to take the crazy out of Joaquin Phoenix and he would be golden for it.
John Hensley OF nip tuck should grow an afro and play REMBRANT!!!!!! HE LOOKS LIKE HIM,HARDCORE!!!!!
Sean Penn is way too old, and he already ripped off David Patrick Kelly's Luther voice for Fast Times at Ridgemont High anyway! I personally think they should find someone unknown – one thing that's great about the original is that it was the first movie for a lot of those actors… they need to find someone who won't just imitate Kelly, but bring some new craziness to the role. AND they should give some of the original actors cameos!!
if you want it to be realistic than the rogues should be played by sum white trash greaser gang
but there aint no such a gang active in the actual la street or maybe sum meth pekerwood slanga from nazi low rider orange county with a meth lab on their trunk type of shit yeah that ll do knowin that those people have a pass in the system thru their alliances with la eme

Dude, I will play the roll, no joke! Seriously, I've got the look, The skills, but most importantly the inspiration. I'm an absolute warriors fan and I've even started writing my own little remake of 'The Warriors' . But if someone beat me to it, then I must act.
i think they should get that djourou fella out of never back down to play cleon, but dont kill him off at the beginnin, and then i reckon kyle gallner would be good for vermin, i think bradley cooper would be a good ajax, patrick dempsey has got the right look for luther,
the last time i watched NIP/TUCK christian was stabbed and the other doctor had a breast cancer”–
I can’t believe no one has mentioned the guy who plays Josh in The West Wing, Bradley Whitford. Completely different style, of course, but they look identical! I’m watching the film right now and have just been checking on IMDB to see if it’s the same actor…
Erm.. I just thought… Looking identical isn’t really the point in a good recasting. Ha. But, still…
i would always be a fan of Nip/Tuck, i was saddened about the episode when one of the doctors got breast cancer “;*
