Emile Hirsch has signed on to play ‘Hamlet’

Apparently Kenneth Branagh didnt cut it, Overture films has decided to develop a modern day version of ‘Hamlet’ and Hirsch has signed on to star with Catherine Hardwicke(‘Twilight’) to direct. We get this from Variety:
Overture Films is developing a modern-day adaptation of “Hamlet” to star Emile Hirsch. “Twilight” helmer Catherine Hardwicke is on board to direct, with Dan Jinks and Bruce Cohen producing. Ron Nyswaner (“Philadelphia,” “The Painted Veil”) is adapting the Shakespeare story into a tale set in contempo America.
Jinks and Cohen credited Hirsch with coming up with the idea for the modernized version.
So apparently Hirsch was the one that suggested they do a(nother) modern version of the ‘Hamlet’ story, we will have to wait and see how this turns out. I like Emile Hirsch but I dont know about him as Hamlet.
