OK, point taken. 'American Werewolf' isn't THE best, but it's a far cry from being the worst. I too am partial to the classics, but for some reason they always register in a different part of my brain. Weird? Lon Chaney is THE MAN! 'Company of Wolves' is one of those films I've wanted to see for years and haven't, partially because it's been kind of elusive. I almost saw it late one night recently as it was available as a free on demand title, but it was so late I fell asleep within the first 15 minutes. Hey, I was tired... lay off! 'Howling' debate has and will go one for years and years. Personally, I prefer 'American Werewolf,' but that is having a number of years since I last saw 'Howling.' Personally, I've always been partial to the Lon Chaney original and Neil Jordan's 'Company of Wolves.' Also, 'The Beast Must Die' is a guilty pleasure of mine. I will say in 'American Werewolf's defense that it has the best werewolf transformation scene of any on record, although the one seen in the upcoming 'New Moon' rivals that. I'm kidding. Or am I? Even THE HOWLING from the same year is better than AMERICAN WEREWOLF....which I always found sorta silly.
