The Academy is just trying to increase stalling ad revenue. But of course advertising $ is down, welcome to the real world and everyone elses' lives. Lowering the quality of the product is no way to increase revenues. The decision is just going to devalue the Academy's award currency. This video explains the situation better

<a href="http://www.newsy.com/videos/658" target="_blank">http://www.newsy.com/videos/658</a> .

If this is how the entertainment industry is going to cope with low ad revenue, it's the beginning of the end.

HUGE LOL....wow. That's fierce.
and Claudette Colbert won that year for 'It Happened One Night' (1934)...which pissed off Bette Davis even more. She was already mad for being a write-in nomination for 'Of Human Bondage'!.....in ya face! hahaha

the dinner thing makes it so unpredictable. They used to do it that way at the Oscars. In 1935, Bette Davis was nominated against her bitter rival, Claudette Colbert. Bette Davis was making the rounds of the tables when she came to the table where Claudette Colbert was seated. The table was very near to the kitchen and Claudette asked the waiter if there was something he could do about the smell of burning fish. Without missing a beat, Bette Davis looked at her and said, "why don't you close your legs." True story...lol

they should make it a dinner like the golden globes so everyone can get liquored up before they come up to make their acceptance speech. I'd watch that! and I bet more celebs would show up.

They're shaking shit up. At the very least, it'll be a nice experiment to see how things run differently this coming year. Now, if we could just figure something out with the Best Foreign Language category. Some work definitely needs to be done there. Also, they need to add Best Stunt Work and give Gary Powell some kind of honorary award.
