2008-2009 TV Show Cancellations!

Thank you for your time Pushing Daisies.

Thank you for your time Pushing Daisies.

Now that pretty much every show has wound down its season and is signing off for the year, I thought it would be best to let it be known those shows that won’t be seeing another year. You may have read about some of your favorite shows being canceled but I thought I’d run down the list of the major network cancellations, leaving a few comments along the way of course, and let you see what all they’ve decided to give that good old death bringing axe.

ABC

-According to Jim-I’d say it’s about time. The worst of the fat man with the hot wife subgenre of sitcoms.
-Boston Legal-About time, I’m not a huge fan of James Spader.
-Dirty Sexy Money
-Eli Stone
-Homeland Security USA
-In the Motherhood
-Life on Mars
-Opportunity Knocks
-Pushing Daisies-Now here’s a show that deserved to live on and on, yet it lived by the old adage of original and creative shows, people would rather watch Dancing with the Stars than this. Check the last remaining episodes they’ve decided to burn off on the next few Saturdays.
-Samantha Who?-This show looked somewhat cute. Kind of in the vein of Pushing Daisies, but since ABC canceled that show as well I guess this one didn’t have much chance either.
-Surviving Suburbia-I actually heard this Bob Saget sitcom was pretty good, but I never watched an episode, and apparently no one else did either.
-The Unusuals

CBS

-Eleventh Hour
-The Ex List
-Harper’s Island
-Swingtown
-The Unit-Dennis Haysbert will find something else, won’t he? 24 a callin’?
-Without a Trace-Finally the procedural muck is getting canceled. Will any of the CSI’s soon be next?! Not likely.
-Worst Week

CW

-4REAL
-13 – Fear Is Real
-Easy Money
Everybody Hates Chris
-The Game-This show was cute and mildly funny. Probably deserved to last longer
-In Harm’s Way
-Privileged-I’m glad some of the tween junk is getting axed too. The last thing we need is more young good looking high school students whining about non-actual problems.
-Reaper-My feelings on this show I’ve put out there enough, but I’m still hoping for a Hail Mary at the last minute to save it. I’m looking at you syndication!
-Stylista
-Valentine

FOX

-Do Not Disturb-This lasted two seconds.
-Hole in the Wall-Weirdest idea for a game show ever. And as I cam to find out, it looked like nobody ever won.
-King of the Hill-I bid ado to this show. I didn’t watch the last few seasons but I never missed an episode of the early stuff.
-MADtv-Good riddance.
-Prison Break
-Sit Down, Shut Up
-TalkShow With Spike Feresten
-Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles-Was this show any good? I never watched it but it seemed like just more exploitation of a series that didn’t really need to continue on.

NBC

-America’s Toughest Jobs
-American Gladiators-Did they actually think this resurgence would work? I guess it was while the writer’s were on strike, and sadly the summer has little else to offer.
-The Baby Borrowers
-Celebrity Circus
-Celebrity Family Feud
-The Chopping Block
-Crusoe
-ER
-Fear Itself
-Kath & Kim-This show was decent but not overly funny. I liked Selma Blair in it though, she was wickedly annoying and snobbish
-Kings-Another show that lasted two seconds, and for good reason, it looked soooo bad.
-Knight Rider
-Last Comic Standing
-Life
-Lipstick Jungle-Sex and the City this was not. Or maybe it was, I don’t know, I didn’t watch it and few others did too.
-Medium-Though I heard this was moving to CBC.
-Momma’s Boys
-Most Outrageous Moments
-My Name Is Earl-This show had four seasons, three that were good and the last that was less than so, good bye our somewhat funny friend.
-My Own Worst Enemy
-Nashville Star

  1. Nick. Man. You need to give KINGS a change before you dismiss it. It’s a shame NBC didn’t give it more of a chance because it’s a great show. Very smart, looks very nice and features some brilliant acting (I dare anyone to watch a few minutes of Ian McShane and Dylan Baker spouting off at each other and NOT be impressed). Really a shame.

  2. Pushing Daisies – I heard it was amazing and right after I watched my first episode I found out it was canned. Sad face.

13 – Fear Is Real – Funny story, I watched this. Even funnier, I actually kind of liked it and I don’t usually watch reality stuff, but a horror gimmick produced by Raimi. Why not? Thought it was entertaining.

Privileged – I’d rather have it stay than a Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill. The writing was more clever. Not on par with Gilmore or anything, but not bad.

    Reaper – MUST BE SAVED!!!!!!

Hole in the Wall – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jjs210t08M “OHH, CRAP!!!” Hee, hee:

Prison Preak – Surprisingly good finale.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles – Mixed bag. Better than the past two movies, that’s for sure. Payed homage to the first two movies well. It got a little too talky and philosophical for its own good for most of the second season (not a bad thing, but they did too much of it). Really fun when they would actually have action, but they didn’t have enough. It really picked up with the last few eps. Easily more memorable characters than the recent movies too. That said, glad Summer Glau is free for the Dollhouse.

Fear Itself – You know, this was a mixed bag, but I liked that something like this was on the air. Same goes for Harper’s Island, but the fact that these horror shows are actually getting aired at all is progress I guess. If only one could stay on the air in prime time.

Kath & Kim – Hey, this show was the opposite of funny! That’s saying a lot for the talent they had involved too.

Kings – What, Marina said. Really interesting premise, well acted, looked amazing. Unfortunately, it was so good looking that the budget was crazy high and typical people want to watch shows with acronyms I guess. I had a crush on the kings daughter. Macauly Culkin was in the last episode too. Shame.

  3. Boston Legal is great and i specially like it because i am a law student`:;

  4. Everybody Hates Chris is somewaht funny but there are times that this tv-series is plain boring”,~

  5. Boston Legal is one of the longest running coutroom drama TV series**`

  6. Everybody Hates Chris sometimes bores me because the jokes aren’t so funny anymore but i still watch it all the time “:;
